Default Conejo's Bully2 & TK Twister Small TBone 2.2

After several months of saying I was going to stick to 1.9 and not run 2 classes, I've decided to build a 2.2 rig and run 2 classes.

Thanks to the generous contributions of the AZ Summer Shootout, I'm starting my build with a TK Twister Small TBone chassis from Travis, and a set of Panther tires from Panther. Many thanks to NARRCA & the sponsors for a great event!

Here are the parts I've ordered so far:

Thanks to Jeff @ TCS for the stickers!

I needed to make a chassis jig to set the wheelbase and hold the axles:

The jig is done, and axles are mounted:

I started making links out of 8/32 allthread & 1/4 inch brakeline, but ran into clearance issues. I ordered a 1/4 tubing bender from Grainger, should have it by Tuesday so I can continue bending the links and get them finished.

Once the links are done, I still need to get some more parts to finish it:

1. Tekin FXR
2. Shocks (losi 4 inch or big bores?)
3. Battery
4. Punk-RC dig switch
5. Wheels
6. Transmitter (Futaba 3pm-mx)
7. Bug body

That's all until after tuesday when I get the tubing bender.

Rich C.

Not sure I'll have it ready to go for the 1st comp, still have a lot of expensive stuff to get.

Will do, Thanks Mark! We'll see how far I get bending the links tonight. I'm hopeful they will come out alright.

Default Changed plans a bit

Changed my plans a bit.

I finished bending the lower links (will post pics later) and started measuring the uppers.

Then I saw the 'Hero' chassis from Downtown Delrin. It has a couple features that caught my eye: narrow skid, angled sideplates, 40/60 link length bias between front / rear. I emailed Dave a few times with some questions, found out that the bully's won't work with the 40/60 link length scheme, but he offered to make some 50/50 links that will clear the bully axles. So, I'm switching chassis, hopefully he'll mail it this week and I can start building again.

I'm still waiting on a few parts too: tires(panthers), wheels (Mayhem UCW), punk-rc dig, transmitter(Futaba 3pm-mx).

I should do a build thread for my Bully/Skeeter. It's coming along nicely. I've got all the links chopped, bent and threaded out of 1/4" aluminium tube and assembled into a drooping roller.....time to start dismantling the SWX for it's good parts. Still have to order a body and steering kit for it....maybe I'll make a steering kit....I dunno....??

Just got mine from Panther today. Big thanks to Brook @ Panther who mailed them out to me! But I am mighty tempted by their new tire, might have to give them a try too.

Thanks guys!

I was hoping my Hero chassis would arrive today, but it didn't. Just as well, I was hanging a new tv on the wall tonight. Hopefully the chassis will be here tomorrow then I'll start building and posting pics again.

Alright Jim, there is enough drama on the forum right now. I'll let you post your updates on my build thread and not yell at you about it. So, please, move in to my build thread and make yourself at home... post some pics, pass along notes on your progress, make a few witty comments, anything you'd do in your own build thread if you had one. My build thread is your build thread. Please keep it tidy, and don't make a mess or you won't get your deposit back.

I'm glad you're making progress on your rig, and can't wait for the season to start so I can start giving you some 2.2 schooling!

I know your sarcasm all too well, so I won't trouble with news that everything related to the front axle is done. You don't want to hear that the steering came out great and is well out of the way of the terrain and that's fine, I won't mention it. And don't worry, I want take up your precious build thread space with news of the nice battery tray I fab'ed up last night and mounted to the rear axle.

You're safe from news that I'll be wiring up the ESC's and driving the thing this weekend.

So don't worry. You're Thread Safe, as it were.

I'd post pics, but this is Rich's build thread and he's sensitive to how much space I use......

....besides, it's like a one minute drive, or a six minute walk to my house. You can come on over and get all the proof you need. :o)
