| The Bully Steering Thread
Since we all know that sometimes the Bully's beef can get in the way of getting the maximum out of the steering I started this thread so we can all post Ideas, Solutions, Pictures, etc on how to get more steering or just what you did different to get it all to work. This will also allow us to have it all in one thread since so many ideas are tossed about in individual build threads and sometimes get lost in the shuffle. Keeping it all in one place will also make it much easier for all the new bully owners to find answers to their questions and get them started on the right track. Whether you moved the shocks, upper links, lower links, clearanced the XVD's, ground out the knuckles or just have an idea post it up and lets keep the bully's on top of the game. Ill put mine up first just to get the ball rolling. I built a cantilever system out of Traxxas parts and an old Kamikaze steering link to move the shocks completely out of the way and make full use of the stock steering throw. Eventually ill get brave enough to grind out the XVD's and really push for 50* of throw. Last edited by Culetto; 01-06-2010 at 04:31 AM. |

I had a friend cut out an inverted servo mount and I switched to a smaller buggy spring with my Traxxas shocks: This setup keeps the tires out of the springs completely. They rub a bit on the shocks, but nothing that's intolerable. |

This spot reserved for Krakkers "Prototype" Xertix mount as soon as Josh get time to Tweek it out. I went through and modded the knuckles today but to NO avail really. Stock shafts still limit the Bully's steering internally. I hope they get to a fix on this soon. I've got all I can get out of the axles them selves, IF I can get more, than the servo could give me FULL throw. I was going to take pics, but realized after it was back together that the camera was sitting my my radio. "Opps". I moved my servo arm to the link mount side tho.

| Im curious, do you worry about trouncing a wheel hard and bending those screws holding your drag links to the knuckles? Looks like it makes a lot of leverage against the base of the screw with the spacer. Or do you just always keep it wheels up? |

I have yet to have one break on course and take care of it if need be between courses. I have been wanting to locate a rod end with a 4mm thru hole so I could beef that up but havn't found anything I wanted to try yet. But those screws have been in there for a full comp and 2 GTG's with no failures so I am not really worried. I just look at them as despensable. | |

High clearance setup. I know there is an issue with bending the horn, so I just prebent mine. Last edited by hitman46mod; 01-10-2010 at 08:13 PM. |

Here are some additions to the thread. Thought i would try something different and see how it goes. Enjoy Not the best set up I will admitt that. The goal was to get the steering out of harms way and protect it from getting bent up being in front. Steering strength is a bit down due to the linkage pulling closer to the kingpin but still acceptable. Have some ideas to fix that but lack motivation;) |

Here's my current setup (I'll update this thread as it changes): Angled servo mount & Traxxas GTRs w/ internal Mini-T springs (I've since switched from the Jato to Revo3.3 shocks. I do rub the shocks, but there's no external springs to catch & there's plenty of room above the piston in the GTRs for full shock travel even with the internal springs. Nice clean look on that, and it looks like you are getting plenty of steering angle! Last edited by EeePee; 03-28-2010 at 06:30 PM. |
