| Bit of info on the top screw holes you should know
After doing my axle shave (again and even closer) I planned to fill the open un-used screw holes with JB weld. The holes filled in nice and the tubes looked uber smooth after filing and painting them. However, When I tried to slide the tube back over the shaft I encountered a "block" inside the tube. Looking through it, I could see a blob of the JB weld on the inside of the tube. It was an easy fix, to just run a flat blade screw driver to it and giv it a tap to break it off, BUT STILL.:? Each axle had one spot like this so I'm thinking of using some set screws or any of the un-used holes up front and dremeling off the excess. I don't want contaminants getting into the housings. Next axle shave, I'll probably use set screws in the holes and dremel them first before I turn'm down. |

Not everone reads them, I planned on adding the info to my axle shave info but who would know about it unless they were searching through? I thought it would be good info to post for everyone running them standard out of the box.

Why didn't you put this in your build thread. instead of a new thread.

Not everyone reads every build. This is info that I felt was worth letting every reader know. How many of us read every build when new info is added?

I think we need some warm weather so we can crawl more and be on this forum less. |

And yes, we some nice weather so we can get back out and crawl! I'm tired of being stuck inside with nothing to do but tinker and not test. I keep debating on weather or not to mod the front axle for the 86Jeep steering mod. I was able to lower the servo down since I milled the top of the axle but I'm stuck on having it exposed like it is now, or having it sandwiched between the axle and the motor.:?
