Default My Bully Beetle

Trying to get this done for this weekends VARCOR money run

I've been running a 4.5 -5lb. SSS shafty and have found though I was finishing in the top five at some events, I was not happy with running the rig that light, and when I weighted it up it broke What the hell do I know I'm a knoobFor my driving style it seems, heavy is cool

Soo here we go....

Beetljuice V3
Bully cast axles
VP .7 SLW from the SSS
Rovers (grooved)
Crawler Inovations foams
Losi shocks limited 3/8" w/ end mod and gold springs
behind the axle servo mount
Hitec 7950 w/ BEC wired direct at 7.4volts
Holmes torquemaster ESC
Integey 55t for the weekend
3 cell 40c lipo
Punk dig
Spektrum dx3

I'm waiting on the mail to bring the Punk dig and I can get it wrapped up for the weekend comp, and hopefully get a little drivetime on it the day before.

I plan to get some other things ordered this week:

Better motors, Fantom's or the JPH motors????????

4 cell???????

machined rear case to lighten up the rear

and some delrin rod and T1E links so I can get rid of the papermate covered steel links and allthread uppers ( work great for the build up )

Oh yea, I still gotta grind these axles for some more steering angle

Thanks to all the great builders who came up with all the ideas I'm utilizing.

I'm running 45T fantom blitz motors and using 4cell 1100mah 50C maxamp. They are really expensive batteries but I love the size of these and couldn't find any with that kind of C rating. And actually they are on sale right now.

I'm glad someone is using those things, I can't wait to see what you've done on Sunday. I hope they were in good enough shape and they work for you

Finished this rig up last friday, took it out the next day to the VARCOR money run and took a third place.

The chassis is sweet, and I'm sure it will get better with tuning and future upgrades.

Firekid, I've still got to catch up with you for some delrin for my links.

I picked up a Nomadio Sensor, and will be running dual ESC as soon as I figure out how to work it

Awesome build there. Are you going to cut the links out of Delrin sheet or heat and bend rod? Third place is pretty good for a MOA . Sorry, had to throw that in. Let me know if you wanna get rid of that punk dig when you get your dual ESC's.

The Nomasio stuff is pretty easy to figure out...I just recently switched to a React. I bound it with my Spektrum DSM Rx...just make sure to put the radio on DSSS Beta mode...then all of the programming is easily done through the computer program.

Thanks Karl, Yea Thirds pretty good for a MOA, but First would have been better Maybe next month when you take your a__ to ECC

I'm going to cut the links out of Delrin rod for the uppers and front lowers.
T1E links for the rear.

Yea we can work something out on the punk dig, only been run twice so far.

Thanks Jeremy, I have been following your thread since the start of this build. I really appreciate all your help answering my dumb questions.

We'll see how far I get programing this Nomadio when it gets here. I sat down last night with the manual and I think I've got it figured out.....I hope the computer programing will help make it easier....It's coming with the V2 transceiver , should I not use it? I would assume the 3 channel Spektrum receiver I have would be smaller though.

Picture from this weekends GTG, Thanks Crazywolf

No problem. Yeah, the Nomadio transceiver will certainly work, but I believe, as long as your Spektrum Rx is DSM (not DSM2), then it will work. I have only tried this on the React so far with my 3ch Spektrum Rx and it works perfectly fine. Programming via the computer is MUCH easier than doing it manually on the radio.

Here's my new steering set-up, I'm lovin the knuckle reversal. I got real use to the SSS axial I was drivin not having the steering in the front. Soooo here we go. So far everthing is really stout and works smooth.

I need a Robotronics horn, ( anyone know where i can get one?) to get more steering out of it, along with grinding the cups. I don't think I can use much more though since I'm already wearing off the gold on the springs and spinning the sh-- out of the JeepinDoug cups (excellent product, thanks Doug)

Thanks I'm going to need the horn sooner then expected the Hitec one I was using broke in half at the link end hole. The rest of the steering is holding up great and working sweeeeeeet

RCP only had the short ones listed I can never find them

Anyone used the Racers Edge horns RPP sells?

Time for an update, I've run this rig to a third place in the three comps I've run since building it. Time for a first

Steering system is working great, as long as I keep the bolts tight. Since the tires rub the shocks, and the shocks just mis the case/motor, I don't think I'll get any more out of it. I was thinking about running some toe in, with the new v6's and getting the outside tire to come over more.

I finally got 4 cell packs in, I freakin love em. Now for some good motors, but what turn?

I've been running slws in the rear and Mayhems in the front with cast axles. Total weight 7.2 lbs. I like it, but I never was one for fat girls
Soo.... time to lighten up this pig.
