Looking good so far, I need to upgrade to a 4PL so I can run my 2 FXR's instead of one with a punk dig. You remind me of myself, I like to write out very detailed lists when I'm building a new rig.

If you're just going to crawl, you only need 3 channels. You could probably save some coin and pick up a used 3PK off a racing forum for about half the cost. (the 4PL is nice tho.)

Nice start on the rig.
Welcome to the Bull pen.

Ah, only reason I said the 4PL is because I've been eyeballing one in a local classified.

Yes, a 4PL is nice, my son has one. I run a 3PM-x & a WantAmix to run dual ESC's on my Bully. I believe it's still cheaper than a 4PL (including the WantAmix) and only marginally less capable.

I'm also new in the Crawler-thing. Have a E-revo brushless & lots of planes & heli's. If this bug bite's you, there's no cure!

I did a few changes. Still waiting on some parts... This thing is heavy!!! Sorry for the bad quality pics!

I did put a small perspex window in the rear to cover most of the wirring...

Thanks Reden!

Test drove my Rig for the first time & I am impress!!!
Sorry, I don't have any pics but I do have a video! :-) (Not crawling though)
Viper Crawler.3GP - YouTube
Watch to the end!

The 1st thing I have changed was the rear steering, it was to heavy! Put the non-steering axle in...
Then I sow the Axail AE-1 didn't have drag brake...
So, my next upgrade will be a Motor/ESC combo.

What do you suggest?

I was thinking of 2 x Tekin FXR Esc's & a Tekin 35T motor for the front & a 45T motor for the rear...

Still waiting on my bigbore's & some other bits & pieces...

you're on the right track..... but if you can, go for some matched Team Brood motors 35T or 40T.

With two Esc's, you can use a 4-channel radio, Futaba 4pl or 4pk...

If you are going the twin FXR route, you'll want to get both motors matched. (either 35t, 40T or 45T) You'll have control over each motor from the radio to dial back the rear for steep climbs or bumping it up to shoot a gap.
You really only need a 3channel radio for the 2 FXR setup, it just needs to mixing capabilities. I use a 3PK and it's perfect for the comp rig. You can get them pretty cheap now days on racing forums and what not, they are the best radio for tweeking every option out of your electronics along with the 4PK.

You definately want to get matched motors. I prefer the wheel speed of a 35t but its your choice. However you can run different size pinions between the front and rear, I would suggest a 13tooth in front and a 14tooth in rear. It gives you the overdrive effect. Like said above you can do the mixing with the radio to controll the motors but when you have different pinions its like having mixing without messing with your radio. Just my 2cents

Would this not cause the rear to stall early.
I run 12t front and 11t rear to good effect.

Since we are not running comps over here(yet) I would reccomend Henlo use smaller pinions first to get to know his crawler and learn how to control the low speed.
Then with more experience go for bigger pinions.

Good point.... Lower pinions = more controll.

I am used to comping so that is what i will be running in my bully.

With two ESC do not need different pinion, the radio does this automatically by setting, but if you want to put different pinion always opts for placing the pinion with more teeth in the front...

Not to argue... But i was saying if there is someone who does not know how to program the radio to do this, the pinion difference is nice. Even if you do know how to program your radio to do this, the pinion difference is still very nice to have.

+1....stick to same turn motors front & rear as well as pinion gearing.

A slightly cheaper radio option is a Futaba 3PM-x & a WantAmix adapter to run dual ESC's. It's what I run now.
A 4PL is a better radio than the 3PM-x, but costs more.

Thanks for ALL the info guys!!!

OK, this is what I have ordered:
(My first choice was HH Hand wound's but they are out of stock in 35T)

1 x Hotwire
2 x Tekin HD 35T Motors
2 x Tekin FXR's
1 x 11T pinion (rear) Have a 12T pinion for the front.

Now the next thing...

I have ordered Big bore's, cups & springs (different colours) but what colour springs must I use & also what shock oil?

O, & I allready have a 4PL, it works GREAT!!! :-)
