Default Snipers Pitbull

Going to build myself a Bully, I had one years ago, but want to give it a try again. This time with a lot of mods done to it.

Step one, Weigh the bullys

Stock front axle

stock rear

disassembled and put in the Bridgeport for some milling

here I am removing part of the top of the case, it serves no real purpose and gets in the way of the upper links when the axle is clocked, Both cases will get the same treatments.

here you can see the difference side by side

now i have removed material on the side of the cases, i left plenty around the bearing boss and upper link mount. I will smooth all the edges of the case before final assembly.

now on to the tubes,
the rear will remain stock width i think, the front will be widened with new tubes made.
stock rear short side

modded tube, turned down and gun drilled

not sure if I am going to keep these yet or make new ones even lighter,
I will know more after finishing up the front axle tubes and steering.

Wow, the stock rear axle is 12oz!? Mine is 8.3oz right now. Talking with Dlux there is another about 1.5oz I could loose. What is your goal for it? I was looking threw my thread and it looks like I have never weighed the front. I'm glad you posted the stock front axle! If I don't work tomorrow I will pull it out and get a weight. I am curious to see where you come in with aluminum tubes. Are you going with axial "c"?

Thanks fellas,,

A little comparison
stock case and gears

modded case, stock gears

now to be fair, the stock case has the upper link mount, the after shot does not. I also plan on running drilled gears to reduce rotating mass and give it a little more snap when blipping the throttle. The drilled gears will bring down the weight another 10g or so.

I have a couple ideas on Cs and tubes, the front tubes are planned to be another material, but will see if it works out, most likely going to be Axial Cs,
I am trying to use as much RC4WD stuff as possible, i have a set of super bully XVDs, and lightweight knuckles that i will be using, I dont really have a goal for weight, just getting rid of as much as possible. I normally drive a 5.9lb Berg, not a lightweight by any means, this will be lighter, but not sure by how much.

This thing is going to be epic I can already tell. I was going to start my build post....but maybe I should space it out a bit from yours so I don't get laughed at

Go ahead and cut off the 4th mount hole on the bottom of the tubes. More room and a hair of weight.
