Default Gearcase dimension question (bully and 65:1)

Hey Everybody, I sort of impulsively purchased a set of 65:1 gearcases last night. i was looking to order material for custom tubes, but cant find a dimension for the output boss diameter on these guys.
can anyone help me out?
If not, its not to big a deal, they will be in my hands next week.
thanks for any info you can give me.

I measured some 40:1 bosses. Pretty sure they are the same

Boss 13.4mm OD 3.5mm Tall

Tube 13.45mm ID 3.55mm Deep

What are you going to build with them?

right now the idea is to build a super super, about half again larger than super specs. we will see i guess, but i have a set of rc4wd 40 series roklox i would like to use (even if they dont have the best performance) im sorta hung up between a 200% 2.2 MOA and a 1/4 scale crawler. i would really like to do some 4130 axle tubes and some 4130 tube axle shafts.
any thoughts?

Check out my bully 1 and 2 threads. Its easy to drill the final gear tube out to 1/4"( on the original bully) and put a tube or shaft through. The hard part is making the hubs. Hope you do a build thread for this. Sounds interesting.

I'll check your threads out (although i think may have already) but the information on drilling out the gear will be very helpful. is 1/4 the absolute max you would go? I have access to a couple machines and a little experience. i have high hopes!

i got the dearboxes today, very nice, although if these are the lightweights, how much do the regulars weigh????? amazing heavy, although the majority is gears, theres still a ton of material that can be removed on the cases. ill see if i get that nitpicky.

josh, yep i had read them, but went though again, thanks! i might have to look into machining my gears.

You could take it out to the id of the bearings, but the walls would be so thin it would just get eaten by the drill bit. Not sure but you may be able to accomplish it with an adjustable hand reamer.

Well. I think I'll wait to decide on boring the gear out,for now I have materials on order, some 4130 thin wall 5/8" tubing for axle tubes and 40 thou flat stock for the mounting flange and any gussets. As well as some semi random stuff for drive axles and what not.
I have also "invested" in some 1/5 scale driveshafts from Redcat as well as steering knuckles. We will see. It might be that I end up with my own driveshafts up front. The back will most certainly be my own. Any thoughts on the redcat parts?

When I bought these I was torn between these and clod boxes. But the steel gears and machined housing won me over. Not to mention a better than 2 to 1 ratio advantage over stock clod.
The only things I see clod having over these are beefier bearings and splined shafts.
Anyhow, I just hope these are as tough as I need.

Are you sure you need 5/8" tubes?
What chubs will you be using?

I'm just asking because I'm using these gearboxes on my super(fair bit of material can be removed from gears and housing)
My tubes are turned down to 13mm, that's the size to use the ax10 chubs.

5/8 tubes simplifies my construction as i dont need to string multiple tubes together, I am using chromoly steel with a .028" wall. i can braze or weld it easily and i will be running extra long tubes, this should give me more rigidity over a small diameter. this is the smallest off the shelf diameter that will fit over the bosses on the gearboxes

i have the redcat steering knuckles on the way, i will see when they get here i i can use them, otherwise i will most likely make my own setup. as it is i will be making my own chub ends on the tubes either way.

something like this:

well heck, now im not sure how to feel about my choice of driveshafts, i may have overshot the mark a smidge.

thats a 5mm xr10 axle next to the redcat 1/5 scale . 12mm axle is big, but i like the dogbone section at 6mm.
