| Bully 2 tapped holes expose internals...
I can't find any information on this. I have found a few tapped holes on the axle that expose the gears. What holes are tapped through to the gear/axle housing? Is this manufacturing defect? Thanks! |

For what they are made for it is of very little concern. Comp crawling is usually very clean thing. If it is a problem put cool stickers over them.

Or, put a short screw in it.

those holes are the godsend. If everyone made every thing like that, I wouldn't have to drill so much.

Another issue I'm having is that the rear axle is making a ticking sound in reverse. I've pulled it all apart and verified everything is tightened and lubed up. It sounds as if one of the bearings is wore out; I would not suspect this with a new set of axles. 1. I pulled both the axles off and it's definitely coming from the gear box. 2. Pulled the motor off and the sound is not coming from the motor. 3. When the motor pinion is pushed extremely tight against the gear the ticking goes away, however this is too much strain on the motor shaft. Also it takes 3x as much torque to spin the tire (this was measured using the extremely accurate spin the tire with your hand method.) Any suggestions before I contact RC4WD? Thanks!

when you pulled the axles, how did you turn the gears? with the motor? if so did you try turning the gears by hand after you pulled the motors off? can you correlate the ticking sound to the rotation of any specific gear? maybe a burr or something on a gear? inquiring minds want to know (or it could be one of the newest version of the axles with a reverse warning mechanism to warn other people when you are backing up so they wont get hurt) |

As to the ticking, it only happens when I have the motor connected, can't replicate by hand (not enough rotational velocity.) Only if I mount the motor very tightly against the gear does it stop, however it is too tight and is bound up (Only did this for a few seconds to test) I am suspicious of the middle of the three main gears. If it gets much worse I will replace the gears, for now I don't do a lot of backing up and the ticking is very very minor.

Did you happen to try a different motor? Might be the motor bearings or brushes doing strange things.

if you have the inclination, start swapping out gears and/or bearings out with the front axle until the noise moves to the other axle. did you try swapping out the motors? second on the brushes under some load Last edited by cabron; 09-21-2014 at 06:11 PM. |

Replace all the bearings with quality bearings first thing when running these axles and you should be gear problem free!

yeah it was a mistake to trust the stock china bearings, maybe 120 minutes drive time on those axles :( no dust inside from the holes though haha |

I´m very surprised about this I drive these axles round about 1 year.At first i took apart all components and put some grease (specially for transmission) to it,then i put it together, all screws with some loctite. That was it.No problem with anything, i really love these axles I drove some comps and many many Lipos, you can see it here, the bottom of the axles are no more black But good to hear,if i will change the bearings sometime i will better get a proven quality |
