| Is the Bully 2 right for me?
Hi all I've been meaning to post this for a while, but keep changing my mind & failing to log into my old account on here. So after giving up & registering again, here we go... I have an old MOA that has come to the point where I dare not drive it. I've had it for probably 20 years, Clod axles, stick chassis, plus lots of other bits that are basically irreplaceable. Being worried about damaging it has taken the fun out of it. Decision has been made to shelve it totally, since that's about all it gets now anyway & buy new. So after hours of Google, I think the Bully2 looks the right rig for me; but over here in the UK, there doesn't appear to be much others to chose from. To keep costs down I was thinking about the kit & throwing existing spares onto it to get it up & running, then upgrade as needed. I think the only things holding me back is some of the posts about problems with the rig out of the box, plus I also don't want to buy it & then realise I should have got something else anyway. UK support it always a worry when you go away from mainstream products, but I can see a few places stock Bully2 spares. I guess the question after all that dribble, am I going to regret buying the Bully2 & is there a different platform I should looking instead? Thanks for all the advice. Chewy. |

If you're after an MOA there aren't a ton of widely available options. The Bully 2 is still a decent option for the axles alone. You could always upgrade the chassis from the RTR/kit later on if you wanted. EDIT: I have a bully 2 and haven't had any issues. I think the biggest issue it had was that one gear got a bearing that was too small so when it was run it just grenaded that gear. Checking over the transmission is an easy way to confirm all is okay. I feel like they must have resolved this issue by now, its been years. If you're open to Dlux Fab they have some options for more $, the Asylum is the newest I believe https://dluxfab.ecwid.com/Dlux-Kit-Cars-c20624006 I just Built an Asylum using Capra axles and Its a weapon for sure. I dont know if they have any distributors in the UK though. Last edited by HumboldtEF; 11-27-2022 at 03:13 PM. |

Hi there, thank you for the reply. Didn't realise I had to turn on notifications so I missed it. Lesson learnt. It's nice to hear the Bully is a reasonable starting kit. I've had a bit more time to think it through since I started this thread & your post pretty much just makes me more convinced it is probably a good way to get a crawler again. My electrics will be the first stuff to upgrade before I start to look at chassis mods. First big spend once it is up & running will have to be a suitable servo. I have a few spares kicking about, but nothing with enough power really. |
