I tried it with one pair of mine and found that the spring kept popping off the fixed (non-shackle) end. I may well have trimmed the end of the spring a little to much, in the end I cut the ends off the springs and used them as helpers.

I'm afraid I don't know what it means to CHINO the springs. Could someone explain this to me please? Thanks

The Chino mod is when you grind or bevel the eyelets at the ends of the leafsprings at an angle to allow them to rotate slightly on the mounts. The idea is to get them to move in an arc with the axle during articulation.

The Chino'd eyelets look like this: / \

Instead of this: | | (when viewed from the end)

ummmm? wouldntmodding the leaf springin that manner not do anything at all since the boltthat holdsthemand the diameterofthe leafspringeyelet are of the same size no matter if you ground them?
now i could see doing the mod whereyou actualy grind the bolt that goes through the leafspring eyelet then i could see that addign morearticulation to the leaf springsince the leafspringeyelet willhave room to wobble in either direction? but i could be wrong?

Grinding a double taper on the shackle bolts would be the next step for added flex beyond Chino'ing the leafsprings. I thought I read that mod somewhere in this section. I haven't done either of these things to my TF2 (yet), so at this point I'm just relaying the info I've picked up over the years . Hopefully it is of some use.
