R3 transmission issue

Hi to everyone!

Just arrived my TF2 so everything is brand new in it. I have never had a 2 speed rig before so I do not know how the tranny really should work and I have not found any threads about is.

I read many posts on how smooth the shifting rod moves but I experienced that in certain positions it is almost impossible to pull it out, or push it in between the two gears.

I think that a servo would blow up, if I forced it to shift when the rod does not move freely.

Is it normal or the rod should move freely regardless of anything.
