Default TF2 Flatbed

Hi All

First build thread, and as many of you know (since I've commented in your threads), I've been getting a flat bed tuber built by a fine craftsman here on RCC. Bob1961 was kind enough to do this WITHOUT my chassis (since I was paranoid to send it to him) and he did not have a chassis to go by close to him. After 186 emails with dimensions, pictures, drawings and the occasional "wtf do you want?", I recieved my project from him this week.

The basics:
Basic TF2 kit
HH 35t
MMPro esc
Castle BEC
Hitek 7955 for steering
Futaba clunker (since it weas laying around doing nothing) for shifting
MIP SCX10 shafts
3s lipos

I'll spare you all the basic build stuff, since we all have seen that over and over.

almost left it this color

I have to thank Brownie529 for helping me with the programing of my 3PK for the shifting...it kicked me hard, I owe you Shawn, thanks

we started getting some progress pictures from Bob1961...

as you can see there's a stinger bumper involved also.

I can't say enough about Bob, he did a fabulous job on this and put up with my questions and changing my mind like an old lady... He did everything I wanted...and then some. I would recomend him to anybody, especially if you can send him your chassis. I didn't because I didn't know him...but I do now, and wouldn't hesitate doing this again.

now for some progress:

Bob wanted pictures right away to see if stuff fit...it was real tight, but things slid right together.

he was worried he didn't have enough room for the shock towerin the rear

first mock up:

bumper came out nice:

so...after some thought, and a sleepless night, I decided to paint the bed the same color as the cab, and do the tube work in Chrome...used Spaz paint, a bit pricey but I think worth the price. I think it came out nice.

the battery box Bob made as well. Has a hinge and opens up nice. Originally was going to run 2s lipos and we made the box big enough for the largest I have. But, it was too hard to get in and out, so 3s it is. Alaso thought about puting all the electronics in it...but the MMpro is too big (probably change out for an FXR pretty soon). An on going evolution of changes will come now for sure.

some poser shots:

I have no rocks in my backyard...

I plan on a crawl with a couple locals next weekend, I promise to update with some real poser shots on some rock before I scratch her up.

Thanks for looking...cheers !!! And happy crawling

I was beginning to think that you were just pulling all of our legs about having a TF2. Wow, where do I start? I really like the color and graphics combination, look at those perfect welds on the metal work, I really like the stinger bumper. Did he, (BOB) make the tool box also? What are your plans for wheels and tires? Looks great my friend, congratulations.

Thanks Joe...I know, I talked a lot, but Bob did a great job and it was worth the wait. He did build the box, and I'm probably going to keep the tires and wheel set up for now. I do like the IROKs though, I think it can take a larger tire/wheel combo and still look good...

Brave choice on color, not the normal black tube work etc. Have to say it works perfectly. The shot on the sprinkler looks 1:1.

Great work

Oooo...I probably should have made that clear
I did employ Bob's services as I really liked his work and approached him to do the tube work...actually struggled with the colors Bob, but I'm please with the outcome
I hope you get your vendor star soon Bob..you deserve it.

my bead blaster but bob did it. he basically has access to it any time he wants.
i dont like to clone, thats your design and it should stay yours. i have ideas already for something near the same but different enough to separate. bob does awesome work, he has made me trans mounts, nerf bars or rock sliders, 4 link mounts, links and who knows what else.
