| nick's crappy busted yota thread
ive been messing about with an scx10 for a while and wanted to give a leafed rig a try. so for Christmas all i asked for was a tf2. took about 4 hours to get it together i painted the body up to look like a rusty old yota. using a lot of the salt techniques i used on my d90 build and using iron paint so it rusted for real. group shot i dig this thing a lot, but compared to the scx10 has been one big headache. |

Looks good. You will probably enjoy it more once you get it out side. The scx10. Is gonna be a way more capable rig but the leaf tf2 will be more of a challenge We all know how you like a challenge I'd say let Rachel drive the d90 and you try to follow in the Toyota The tf2 is going to react more like an old Toyota But that's the point Take pix!! If you decide you don't like it. You can always give it to me |

| Re: nick's crappy busted yota thread thanks, its just sitting on some drift wheels. the sprint 2 wheelbase is just a bit to short of i would rock this body on my drift car. as for the rust its a product from sophisticated finishes. a lot of train guys use it. |

| Re: nick's crappy busted yota thread its not that i dont like it ive just had a ton of problems. probably all my fault. i tried to cut corners and get a cheap traxas wp steering servo, that i killed, got a new one from rc4wd. the twister super torque and it didnt work right out of the box. in my scx10 i have the novak Timbuktu and i liked it so i got the cheaper one for the tf2. and have had issues with it. i fried the receiver that came with my sprint2. it has just been a pain, i didnt know old yodas had such electrical problems. |

Great work on the body. Sophisticated Finishes make some excellent products.

in other news i flipped my wheels inside out and got a co pilot i also went back to leafs in the front after a short run with 3link. the shocks where just too short. it sat bottomed out in the front all droop. what would be a better shock to give it a little taller stance. i think im going to set this as a stock point and build it as you would a 1/1. into a real crawler. kind of resto mod. i may start with a bobed bed.

Harvey has started modifying his used toyota pickup. slowly turning his rusty orange yota into a capable trail rig. did some cutting, welding and trimming. fixed some rust...... this much chop test fit weld sand have to get some finish putty to get it smooth. did some trimming under the front bumper to make room for a tube bumper. |

I think you should leave the bed all misaligned like the last pic. To help with the busted yota feel/ look Maybe fill the bed with too many scale bricks or cinder blox |

i finished up my bob, i really like how it came out and i can now climb steeper things without getting the bed stuck. i also got some styrene and made a tool box, im not sure if i like how big it is but i made it large enough to put the battery in. just in case i build an exocage around this thing it will make for quick battery changes on my other rig i made a bumper and a rack out of brake lines, using a little butane torch and solder. after doing some more research i went out and got a mapgas torch and some safety-silv 45. my god what a difference. when you have the right stuff its so easy and quick not to mention how strong the bonds are. i am hooked on brazing i already have a tuber in mind for later down the road. this leads me to the bumper i made for this thing my next project is to build a roll cage/ tire holder for the bed. here is a mock up with the dingo cage just to see what it may look like. im gunna start working on it tonight after work.

got up today and had to kill some time before going to rc madness to get my crawl on, so i made some sliders. then went to enfield to rc madness and had a blast i ran today with stock axial tires with no weight and it did ok. i think im gunna get some 1.7 iroks to put on a spare set of wheels i have. |
