Re: 1984 4 runner build Thanks man. Yeah, these bodies are a ton of work. I really didn't think i would be taking this build this far when i started it but now i'm in too deep! I'm sure i have somewhere around 25-30 hours in this so far. Body lines aren't perfectly straight and i don't expect it to be perfect so at some point i'm just going to paint the thing and call it good. "thumbsup" |

Re: 1984 4 runner build Thanks. And now that i've had my coffee.. time to get my a$$ back to work! Looking for some inspiration i found this video on youtube yesterday and was blown away by this guys trucks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-zcXHleXrQ Does anyone know who this guy Sean is or if he has any builds on here? These trucks are friggin amazing! |
Re: 1984 4 runner build 4 Attachment(s) Made some headlight buckets out of styrene and got them installed and puttied up. Attachment 353412 Attachment 353413 Attachment 353414 Attachment 353415 |
Re: 1984 4 runner build 3 Attachment(s) Got the hood hinged in with some more airplane hatch hinges. Attachment 353416 Attachment 353417 Attachment 353418 |
Re: 1984 4 runner build I had a little change of plans and have some new scale goodies coming in the mail. Super, super, super stoked to see how it is going to look! |
Re: 1984 4 runner build Keep it coming, hinged hood came out nice! |
Re: 1984 4 runner build Those hinges seem pretty strong? I need some for my build. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: 1984 4 runner build That is looking great! Following this thread! |
Re: 1984 4 runner build 5 Attachment(s) Thanks, yeah the hinges i used for the hood are nice and thick, keeps it aligned well. I would recommend for sure. Its pretty scale for the yotas too. I managed to make progress and get the fender liners roughed in. That was not as fun as i was hoping it would be.. or even just not suck. :lmao: Even after making a cardboard template i managed to ruin an attempt at each side. It came out pretty good in the end, just took a while. Attachment 353790 Attachment 353791 I wanted them high enough you could see the full shock hoop from the side, but i also wanted a cut out for the shock hoop so it looks a bit modified and kinda cool. Attachment 353792 Attachment 353793 The shock hoops kinda look like crap from the inside though. Would be nice to have a fully round hoop. Maybe i'll glue half a tube on it or something later. Attachment 353794 Bigger fish to fry for now! |
Re: 1984 4 runner build Thanks, i think its going to be decent. Im not planning on going crazy on the interior. One thing nice i had the whole back carpet so that will be easy to cover up. ;-) Door panels will be basic, not sure about the dash... pretty much scares me! I'll figure something out. |
Re: 1984 4 runner build Good job on the inner wells, I think you nailed it "thumbsup" |
Re: 1984 4 runner build Thanks, hopefully they'll do some justice to the goodies I got coming! I may use a little body filler to smooth them out too. I got started on the back panels and wheel wells too but progress was minimal between watching the playoffs and hanging out with my kiddos. |
Re: 1984 4 runner build Man I have a guy that wants to trade my scx 10 II for his TF2 RTR. I was kinda stand off ish but reading this i'm kinda coming around. Keep up the great work Sir this build is a master piece |
Re: 1984 4 runner build Thank you, but it's got a long way to go! Honestly the SCX10 ii is absolutely bada$$ as a crawler. I'm going to pick one up soon for my next fun rig. The trail finder 2 is great if you just want to have something to dink around with scale style. Just depends on what you want, I like both! |
Re: 1984 4 runner build 3 Attachment(s) Sweet!!! "thumbsup" Attachment 354008 May move it forward after i get things situated but this is where its at for now. Damn that look cool. 8) Attachment 354009 Attachment 354010 |
Re: 1984 4 runner build 5 Attachment(s) Damn that little 22r looks good in there! 8) Just fits too, had to dremel out the hood to clear the oil cap. The whole setup looks so much better! Cost a little bit to do it but again, damn it looks good! Can't wait to see it all painted up. Attachment 354184 The fitment with the transmission will make do the interior much easier and look so much better. Dont have to worry about the shift servo and the whole thing looks much better from the outside too. Still have to make a rear transfercase mount but it shouldn't be too bad. Attachment 354185 Attachment 354186 I'm having to make a custom servo mount to make the servo fit with the shortened front end but it looks like its going to fit fine.
