Re: 1984 4 runner build Seriously one of my favorite builds of 2017 so far. Engine looks great. what paint did you use on it? Also, I have these cool black rubber bands that look awesome for drive belts because they arent rounded like O-rings. Re: 1984 4 runner build I used a heat gun to put bend in the clear sheeting where need be and then dubro body trimming scissors to cut it out. Turned out decent. Took for ever, thats a lot of windows! |

Re: 1984 4 runner build 2 Attachment(s) Thanks! Its been hard to stay motivated as the weather gets nicer and the days longer. Most of the time i'd rather be outside playing! However, i did manage to make a new paint booth in an effort to help keep dust off the final paint job. Attachment 357061 Also got all the lights cut out. Man that took a while. Attachment 357062 In the process I would also find out things that weren't quite right or unsymmetrical and then i would spent more time sanding and trimming and redoing. I'm pretty sure I'm done with the body besides final prep. Then its time to figure out the order of painting things. |

Made some spot lights to mount on the bumper. Got the servo hooked up and installed. motor spark plug wires. .Attachment 357717 Attachment 357718 Painted the bottom flat black. Painted the engine bay grey. Attachment 357719 Finished the rear lights and drilled all the lights out for the 3 and 5mm leds Attachment 357720 Attachment 357721 Lots of masking and painting! Re: 1984 4 runner build 6 Attachment(s) Got a little bit more done today. Visor got drilled and mounted and ready to paint. Attachment 357744 Attachment 357745 Made a muffler out of some styrene and painted it up with some chrome paint. Attachment 357746 Bent up some 3/16" aluminum tube for the exhaust and got it all installed. Even made a chrome tip for the exhaust pipe. :mrgreen: Attachment 357747 Attachment 357748 Attachment 357749 Now i just need to do final prep for the blue and mask everything else off. Getting pretty dang excited at this point!:) |

Re: 1984 4 runner build Thanks, yeah it's almost there. I started painting the body and screwed it up. Got a big run in the paint trying to paint the door jams so I had to let it dry and then sand it. Then I found a bunch other spots and I wanted to sand too so then there was that.... argh! Finally got it all painted up this morning and had just enough paint. Let it dry for a day or two and then I'll put some clearcoat on. Good stuff |
