| R.E.C.O.N. Rubber-2-Rock Winter Series Rnd 2 RUBBER-2-ROCK Winter Series Rnd 2 Saturday Nov. 27 Moon Rocks, NV Tech @ 0900 Comp Start @ 0930 The birth place of competitive r/c rockcrawling in Northern Nevada was the Parker Compound; aka my backyard. Moonrocks is the afterbirth and is part of Northern Nevada's r/c crawling history. It is a mystical area that has provided some of the best crawling accomplishments ever and once again, Moonrocks will test drivers and their crawlers in an area that has never seen 1:1 or rc tire tracks. If you have only heard the stories of Moonrocks or have comped there before, put this comp on your calendar, because it is going to be INSANE! When it comes to r/c comps in Nevada, remember, RECON sets the standards. Any other comp is like going to the public swimming pool wearing your grandmothers panties, you still get wet, but is it worth the embarassment! See you on the rocks! |

The R.E.C.O.N. Rubber-2-Rock Winter Series round 2 was held at Moon Rocks, Nevada. Moon Rocks is a popular recreation area for 4x4 enthusiasts, motorcycle riders, mountain bikers, and the growing side by side community. The main section of Moon Rocks has seen a lot of outdoor activity from a variety of users, but RECON has yet again brought the competitive r/c rock crawler another great location that has never seen 1:1 rubber or 1/10 scale rubber on this section of decomposing granite. The dedication of the RECON driver, volunteer, judge, and fan equates into a comp experience that one has to see it to believe it. The Back Yard Boys was represented again by Mark A., Scott J., and the first time across the state line to put his rubber to Nevada rock; Marshall L. Marshall L. piloted his Axial XR-10 to a very respectable top 10 finish. The rest of the BYB crew is a constant podium threat and Mark A. is making a statement to the 2.2 Pro Class, he is gunning to be the Rubber-2-Rock Champion! Round 2 was graced with two of the most well known drivers throughout the West Coast as no holds barred, 2.2 pro dominating, and 1:1 phenoms; Keith B. and John Hall. Watching these two drivers lay down back to back perfect runs, is like watching a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model stroll down the beach with Justin Timberlake playing in her ipod , Keith and John put the sexy back into running courses. Speaking of “sexy” John unveiled his new bodiless chassis, the Rasta Rig is what I call it, but whatever he calls this new chassis, one thing is for sure, the rig has “Hall Style” built in to it. What is “Hall Style”? It’s a winning attitude that every driver should hope to attain. A quick shout out to one of the prettiest Moms to be, Darcy. It was nice to see her brave the cold weather with her man. The 2.2.pro class competition was very competitive all day, but Keith B. had a stellar day of driving. He finished all 4 course with a negative score on each course. This was a helluva task since he was the only pro to finish all four courses. It seemed that the courses possessed at least one of a drivers weaknesses and exploited it in a very embarrassing fashion. Each course tested a drivers knowledge of his/her crawler. It was amazing to watch drivers learn to handle the diversity of the weather and constantly changing course conditions. RECON hosts a winter series for this reason. Drivers make changes to their crawlers to meet changing course conditions. They may have wet weather tires or they replace their memory foam with a cold weather foam and they use hand warmers to keep their lipo batteries at an optimal working temperature, but what a driver does not want is a winter series comp cancelled and RECON believes in this as well. We level the playing field through preparation and dedication to drivers. Compitition is an adventure and when Mother Nature wants to impose her time of the month on us, we laugh and throw her a crawler kotex and DO WORK!. The pro class this series is stacked with talent. The Keyes Bros know the key to victory. Sococrawler and Sococrawlgirl know how to win as a family. The Bailey Boys will be competing for the first time as dad vs. son. The multiple personalities of DRIVNMF are too busy battling each other for him to be a threat, but if his voice of reason, Stuart G. can keep a can of calmness close by, Stuart G. will be a threat. The G stands for “going down”. You can not forget about the Clark Bros. Jeremy is always a course away from a podium, while Jerry is clearing sport gates one eye at a time. The Action Jackson’s are sharpening their attack on the winter series competition. Rusty has set his personal best low course score in the last two comps. His XR-10 is soon to become a veterans thorn in a podium finish. Nick has set his goals on the Sport Championship title and is not afraid to lay down the Jackson law on the rest of the sport field. If you are a 2.2 pro or sport driver, do yourself a favor, don’t miss another RECON Rubber-2-Rock Winter Series rounds. This adventure is running on race fuel and it’s guaranteed to be “gettin’ it”. There was some amazing driving and I’m proud of ya’ll. Round 3 is coming up in two weeks. We will be at yet another new spot at Pyramid Lake. It is the final round of the RECON Cutthroat Crawling Classic and we will be crowning a champion. See ya’ll there. Last edited by DRIVNMF; 11-28-2010 at 05:07 PM. |
