Default Tires

I'm a total NEWBIE so please excuse my ignorance. From what I understand the stock tires are kinda crappy so what are you guys using for tires?
Also, are the stock size tires 1.9 or 2.2, and can I put a 2.2 on a 1.9 wheel or do I need to buy new wheels too. The 2.2 and 1.9 refers to the width right???
Lastly, where do I get new wheels and tire on the cheap....because I'm a SUPPER CHEAP>>>LOL
Thanks

The stock tires and wheels are 2.2 sized...1.9 is typically for scaler trucks. You can't mount 1.9 tires to 2.2 wheels or vice versa. You can definitely just buy some new 2.2 tires and use the stock rs10 beadlocks. I run HB rover tires on mine and they worked flawlessly with the stock beadlocks, but I recently upgraded to some MSD topgun aluminum beadlocks.

You can get new tires on basically any of the mailorder sites or your LHS. tcscrawlers.com and rpphobby.com are both great mailorders. If you'd rather go the used route...buy a star here on the forum and check out the for sale section. Lots of good deals to be found.

theres a thread in here some where. not sure in witch forum, but it involves a canning jar lid used to hold the bead down all the way around, so you can easily mount your ring. i hate puttin tires on takes forever. no joke. with my wheels it takes at the most 2 hours. 24 bolts per wheel. def. beats dismounting glued ones. can you say blisters.

I read on one guys build that he puts them in the freezer for a while and it keeps the bead stiffer and makes it easier to install. Never tried but he was putting xlocks on 1 inch wide wheels. Good luck. I spend close to two hours trying to get mine on. I never did put all the beadlock screws back in. Stripped my alan wrench

I use a roll of 2 sided tape to hold the bead in place, then use my free hand to tuck the bead in the groove and put the beadlock ring on. It works very well.
