| temped my 454 hh puller's
Got a temp of 143 on the front and 142 f on the rear. Esc was 65 and rx was 42. It's about 39 degrees out right now. And it wasn't run hard. Only one stump a parking curb and two tiny pieces of concrete to climb in the yard. I'm running 9 tooth pinions front and rear. With temps on the motors like that I'm gonna have. To be careful i don't cook'm. I can't wait to get it out on some rox tonight and strip. Some gears. Later Rich |

That's really hot...I know you said they weren't ran hard...but how long had they been running constant? My motors get hot, but I can still touch them. I'm wondering if your gear mesh is too tight or something like that...since they're running that hot.

I would say tight gear mesh too, but they will run toasty. In warmer weather you may have problems. What voltage are you running?

I check mine constantly during practice. They do get hot, but they also cool off fast. Just be conscious of their condition and take a 10 minute break if they are too hot.

I agree with the others on verifying your gear mesh. That's pretty hot pretty quickly. What about a pair of heatsink/fans? Trim some of the cooling fins so the fit correctly against the axle and wire them to the esc's batt port. Works on the 540's in the LCC's, etc. Price is decent: http://www.integy.com/st_prod.html?p...87&p_catid=257 Or make a 380/400 size motor heatsink. Just apply heat and some gentle persuasion to get it to wrap the motor. Some temp grease and a few zip ties, presto! http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=12&page=1 Last edited by John82601; 04-27-2010 at 02:51 PM. |

Well if anything they were not tight enough. I. Spun the front & rear. Most of what I crawl is moster boulders. I now want more of these motors and need new gears front and back. Later Rich |

Maybe Mr Holmes, I need moa axles that can handle your motors! Was binding & Flipping the rs10 over in places it would never go before. I blame your 454's, Not for being junk but for being more than a entry level can handle. GOOD JOB. ..! later. Rich |
