Default Best practice for hiding antenna?

Hello all,

I have found a number of threads for alternative antenna locations - but people had different opinions.

What is the general agreement to placing the antenna to ensure that
- it is out of sight as much as possible and
- the range is still reasonable without glitching?

I know replacing the radio to 2.4 ghz would solve this question - and I may do that in the future - but for now I would like to use the stock radio.

Thank you for your input.

When I was running a body, I cut the antenna tube short enough to be under the body and almost touching the inside of the body, then coiled up the excess receiver antenna since the tube was shorter. Now that I'm running a bodiless chassis, I have the antenna coiled up on the inside of the chassis. On a bodied setup I got a decent enough range...20-30 feet and with bodiless I get 15 feet or so. Might sound short range, but I follow my crawler through a course to watch for binds so it's not a big deal to me.

Thanks I will try cutting the antenna tube short and coiling the antenna wire up around it.

On our race Clods if we're running one with a long antenna wire I use a piece of lexan and zig-zag the wire back and forth over it. Looks like a tied shoe when finished. You can then cover it as shown if you want, but I never did.

Not my pic, but like this:
