Default Shocks to axle

I have another performance question? Does mounting the shocks to the axles make a marked improvement and wouldn't the shocks be stiffer and have less travel at more of a right angle rather than a diagonal(stock) location. All opinions welcome. I have a new (and Cheap) shock mod in the Tips section.

if you use stock parts it will be super low like 1" off of the ground. If you use the stock ones you have to make like an extension off of the chasis

i tried that with stock shocks. sucks big time. either make extensions or buy some longer shocks. I really cant say if it improved it or not. i just didnt like them mounted to the links. thought it looked cheesy. but it worked so cant be all bad. personal preference i guess.

Nah, there's probably not a drastic performance increase to mounting the shocks like that. As I've said in previous posts, for me it was mostly about the look...and the fact that it looks better on the delrin chassis I made. I think if anything it's a more solid setup. When I ran mine in stock form, mounted to the lower links, the link mounts would occasionally slide if I got in a bind and that annoyed me.

I did it for the looks as well. In fact it makes other things a pain in the ass. I just finished a 540 motor swap and I had to bend the hell out of a couple links for clearance and the shocks rub on everything, tires, motors etc... But it looks cool and crawls great

i flipped my shocks upside and the rubbing doesnt seem to be as bad on the motor as the moving part of the shock is now at the top. works for me.
