| Siping RS10 stock tires and cutting stock foam.
Hello, I've ordered the Losi Comp Crawler tire, but I wasn't trowing my stock RS10 tires away... So I decided to try the siping technic and her is what came out: Stock: After some stinky, dusty and long minutes, my first siped tire: They are more pliable and I hope that they won't tear apart to quickly... So what do you think of that attempt? Last edited by Big Pitt; 10-21-2012 at 02:58 AM. Reason: subject enlargement |

Pretty nice siping job you did. Let us know how it works out.

I soaked my stockers in wd40 for a week. After running my rovers for awhile, I switched back to my stockers and found that they were much better after being soaked, but still not as good as rovers.

Yeah the WD40 helps alot but is not quite enough. I used the dremel to make criss-cross cuts on the inside of the carcass to make it conform better as well as sipe them. Made them almost as good as the rovers. Eventually they made it on to my Rustler. They make great sand tires for a stadium truck, really gnarly rooster tails.

To end with my stock tire section; I just wanted to show you my foam cutting patern. Those are the stock RS10 foam inserts: Now I'm done with this part... Up to the rest |

I like that micro siping! I have a stock set that sat outside for several months and now they work great...go figure! I'm going to sipe em and see what happens. |

| To put it quite simply...the stock tires aren't gonna work anywhere close to as good as aftermarket tires, such as rovers do. No matter how much you soak them, sipe them, or modify them. You can improve them from what they are in bone stock form, but if you want drastic performance improvement...drop $30 on new tires/foams.

I agree, I didn't think it would make much difference. My stock tires were soaked and siped and did ok. I put the panther's on from my new crawler just to compare and the traction is incredibly better. Soaking and siping are good if you have no budget for tires, but they definitely are not a substitute for better tires.

Exactly. They perform much better than out of the box but I guess that Rovers like tire would perform even better. Anny way the only thing I would suggest on the sipping pattern I've used is to not sipp to deep in the lugs... You win on the pliable side but you loose on the traction side (the "new" lugs are to flexible....) The foam is certanly not a memory foam, but are really much better than OOB. Already had great fun with my RS10 with thos mod and about 3 once in each front tires and 1 in each rear tires. |

The sipes are where he has cut a lug on the tire to allow the tire to flex better.
