Default Stock Redcat motors never get hot

When I got my Redcat used the motors would run so freakin Hot. I found out that the aluminum hex nut that the rim sits on was being smashed by the rim lock nut. I think this happened from the rims being over tightened. I have since put in new stock motors from Redcat , m2 dig , dx3e, and 5000 sub c, steel gears and 8t pinion. I can run this thing well over an hour with my buddy's XR10 and my motors barley get warm. I would have never thought to check the hex nut until I installed steel gears. If this nut is snug like this from the factory I can see why people burn up so many stock cans.

Take the wheel off and there is a little aluminum hex with an set screw in it... loosen the set screw and give it a bit of play so that it's not in a bind and then tighten the setscrew back up. Put the wheel and tire back on and problem solved.

you can feel the play by turning tire left to right. It should only be loose enough to feel play in axle shaft (dog bones) .
