If you have a digital caliper you can calculate the pitch. You can also buy pitch gauges. To calculate pitch you take the # of teeth and divide it by the pitch diameter. The pitch diameter is measured from the center of each tooth. Easiest way is to take the # of teeth add 2, then divide that by the OD of the gear. Metric measurements are designated by Modules, or Mod.... 1 MOD = 25.4P, 2 MOD = 12.7P. So if there is a P designation then its unified (standard), not metric. The only time it doesnt "really" matter if its metric or standard is when you interchange between 32P or 0.8 MOD, for they are close enough for our applications.
