Default First things to Change out?

Well I've had my RS10 for a wopping 36hrs and it's addictive. After not wheeling my real crawler due to working on it for 2.5yrs now this has been the best fix so far!

What should be the first things to replace to better the rig?

I have already stripped both steering servos and replaced them with one from my old nitro RC while waiting on some stronger ones (any suggestions?)

I added some LED lights on the bottem because I can only play with it after my 3yr is in bed as he wants to play with it!

I have cut everyother lug off the tires and wedge cut the foams.

I plan to lower the body, but that's for looks.

I like the idea of raising the skid and bending the links.

What else?

check the tips and trick thread, all suggestions are in there, but personally i would ditch the foam all together.

I agree, ditch the foams!! I did and I really cant complain about the stock tires, they seem to do well in Missouri anyways!

Well I tried climbing a hardline on my firewood pile with my cut tires and foams and it was night and day over stock. I ditched the stock foams and although the tires flexed WAY better, once the axle got to a high angle the cat just flopped onto it's roof due to lack lack of sidewall rigidity.

I think I'm going to trim the foams outer diameter more to keep the tire conformity to ridges and add some decent weight to make up the rest.

I love how I can make a change on my RC rig and see the results with little time frame compared to my real rig which hasn't be wheeled in 2yrs due to being built!!!

Well I bought some white dot Rovers which was a night and day difference over using no foams and stock tires! The HPI Rovers are on sale at ckrccrawlers.com right now and on rpphobby.com 2 sets of Losi comp claws are on sale for $12.99. A BEC and some new servo's and you will have a good truck

do away with rear steer and put in a rear dig switch (of course u will have 2 get new 3ch radio) it will turn sharper and just alot more useful i think than the rear steer

Totally agree with the foam mod for free mods.

New Servos are a must and would put them #1 on the list of paid mods.

I like the rear steer. I find it very useful. I see a lot of guys ditching it but I couldn't imagine getting rid of it.

I agree with keeping the rear steer.

After you get used to it, there are some awesome lines you will be able to try.

Read steer & Dig..... Next on my list of mods.

Well I'm used to me real life rig. Right now on 44" tires I'm at a 118" wheel base. And I'm already tempted to convert my 14bolt to a steering axle and I can do digs all day long.

Given that to scale my RS10 is 126" and I've stretched the wheelbase with my bent lower links I couldn't imagine no rear steer.

I assume you mean you're keeping rear steer and adding dig? Doing that is kinda redundant since both things technically accomplish the same thing in different ways. Not to mention you will have to get another radio and a receiver with more channels for the dig.

Well I broke down and bought some Sticky Green Compound Tires and some 15kg servo.

I've chopped 1/2" off the bottom to raise the belly. Went to a 9.6v 1000mah battery( I know low mah but I needed the slender case and I never run it that long). Tonight I'm re-making all my lower links using traxxas 3mm ball ends and 1/4" alum. rod.

I should start a seperate thread with pics.
