Default just bought my first rs10 and my first crawler

I would like to upgrade a few things and wanted to know what you guys suggested that dosent involve modifying anything. I want to put better shocks on it but dont want to change the way they mount just yet any suggestions?? It already has all steel gears. i was also thinking of upgradeing the electronics. was wandering if the traxxas xl5 would sufficentally run the two motors? or is there a better setup to go with?

Change battery!

Turnigy "Losi Mini SCT" type battery (2S LiPo, 1600mAh) fits like charm!

Rotate the battery plate 180 degrees to have the battery towards the front of the truck.

For shocks, if you buy the same eye to eye length as the stock shocks, they will mount up in the stock location. A new battery/charger is definitely a good investment since the stock one and stock charger kinda suck. The XL5 should run 2 motors, but it doesn't have a drag brake...so your crawler will roll when you're not pressing the throttle.

For a budget ESC, I really like the Axial AE-2 that comes with the new RTRs. It can be had cheap (I think I paid $30 for mine) and has 2s lipo cutoff built in.

Cool yea I own an rc8.2e so I have a good lipo charger. had to have one to charge 4s lol. This is my first crawler so not 100% sure on how well I will like it. I have been looking at some better crawlers and am pretty sure i will get an axial pretty soon.will probably take the rs10x out for the first crawl sunday after work. I am hoping that I get into this and like it. it seems alot harder to break things at 5mph than 60 lol. anyway we will see thanks for the advice on the esc I will have to look it up.

The rc4wd outcry is a good esc for the rs10 too. Its cheap and works well. It can also take 3s.

The lipo alarm is a good idea for sure. I never use them anymore cause i can tell when its getting close. That being said i did waste 2 batts one from running to long and the other from leaving it plugged into an esc for a few weeks. Both of them were down to low to come back. I even tried to jump them with a nimh charger and nothing. Good thing they were only $8 sky lipos. It still sucked tho.
