Was thinking about purchasing it, is it worth it? Is this a capable platform to use? Do/did you like it out of the box? Any upgrades to get before slapping on your gear? Is/are there upgrades out of the box,or is it the same as their RTR? Again many thanks! Last edited by Frank211; 02-29-2020 at 02:19 PM. |

PACK is the chassis of the RTR Scout II (not AXE) less fenders, sliders and wheels. First item to change is the provided servo horn by any generic servo horn ... that'll correct the bump-steer issue, replacing the skid plate is a matter of taste ... some can't drive with its bump, overs deal with it. Overwhise, out of the box, it's already pretty capable without any upgrades ... provided you don't over-power it and don't drive it like Slash. One thing I regret on this chassis are the shock towers ... front and rear are different and protrudes a lot above the rails. Can be a pain with pickup bodies. |

The P.A.C.K seems like a pretty solid platform for $169. I was lucky enough to find a new Axe version of the P.A.C.K that was being sold on ebay for $189. The things people tend to want the most right out of the box are a flat transfer case skid on the bottom, upgraded portal gears, the new style portal housings, and the servo horn from the Axe to eliminate bump steer. However, even without the few upgrades it is quite capable. Oh and currently the RTR is only $100.00 more so that might be a more cost effective route in the long run depending on what you have to toss in the chassis kit.

I put a castle brushless system in mine, a few treal parts for front axle, and it's pretty set now. |
