Does max input voltage of 8.4 mean it can only be run on 2s power?

Hmmm... I thought 2 was 7.4 and 3 was 11.2. (shrug)
Was curious. I have a couple of the hackmoto motors and they’ve been really good. $25 for a rebuildable motor is really good.
I like to run 3S though.

Very odd since their 3-slot rebuildable and their 550 cans can do 11.1v (I have both and am running 3S).

The old 'V2' motor was 11.1v max input
550 can - 24v
and the new 5-slot 'just climb' motor is 8.4. So don't run the damn thing on 3S or you'll burn it up.


John's 5-slot motor, the 'crawlmaster' series, is mentioned all over for 3s power.

I've sent an inquiry to Yeah Racing about it. Will update if I hear back from them.

Sounds like CYA in advertising. I'd have no qualms running 3s, maybe even 4s on those motors. If you're geared low enough, it's not going to spontaneously burst into flames. At the end of the day, they look like really nice motors for the price and I intend to give them a shot the next time I'm in need of a brushed motor.

Exactly what I was thinking...but hey.


I ran the piss out of a 35T V2, still looks like new inside (brushes) and recently put a 45T in a vaterra. They were less than $20 delivered and also delivered very good performance.



The main reason I like the rebuildable motors is cuz I'm such a crappy solderer and those great big tabs are super easy.


I may just try one as well. Such a bargain.

Who else offers 5 pole brushed motors for less? I haven't seen them.

I'm on the look out for a budget 550 can 5 slot with a proper rebuildable endbell which won't cost me 100 pounds.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Yeah Racing Hackmoto v2, GoolRC rebuildable, Turnigy Trackstar rebuildable, Snow Panther rebuildable, etc. are all the same motor with different branding inked on top.

If I remember correctly.... the Hackmoto v2 was out for a half a year or year, before all the others showed up.


I'm hoping the same goes for this new 5-slot Hackmoto although $25 is not a high asking price at all. We might see some other "5-slot" rebuildables show up soon on eBay and Amazon.

5-slot motors can run 2S lipo,
We don't suggest run on 3S lipo

I would agree the Hackmoto v2 is the same as Gool, etc which, like you said, are 3-slot not 5-slot.

Not surprising. Brushes will wear out much faster on 3S. I don't think you'll kill the motor by using 3S though.

Ofcourse you can!



You even said there are many options on the internet. Just search for 555 12v motor


555, or 540 or 550 mean:
1st number = size of armature
2nd number = size of can
3rd number = number of slots (0=3 slots, 5=5 slots, ...)


The thing is that all the options that I found so far, are of the non-rebuildable type of motors.

I seem to recall JRH talking about higher voltages and brush arching in his motors, so surely that's the deal here as well.
I would be happy to be the guinea-pig.

Just have spare brushes on hand and replace them when they wear down. $25 for that type of motor is a really good deal in my realm. YMMV

Love me those V2 motors, my two have been really good in my rigs.
