its really easy. this was the first project i have ever done using styrene and it took me an hour at most. i used poster board to construct the entire bed first, and used tape to hold it together. then you just take it apart, and transfer to styrene. a little glue, and you have a drop bed

Hey Obi....., where do you get the hinges that connect the bed and allow the bed to move? Thanks.

basically just use the bedsides as pictured then the back of the cab if you have a seperate cab and bed. i made the wheel wells first by stacking pieces of styrene that i bent to shape. so bend one thin piece to the shape of the well you want, then slap another piece on top. maybe do it again. then put the side on the fender well, i did another layer to give the extra detail on it. then just sand the edges round. here are the gate lever things.... this is a different bed but the same thing basically, heres how i just backed in the taillights. its just a piec of red plastic from a 3 ring floppy binder. the raides floor is just a regular piece of styrene with thin strips with rounded edges glued to it. for the bedliner i used really really old wrinkle paint. |

no i cant stand buying it froma website. i like to hold it and actually see what im buying. size is very important and i just eyeball everything, i cant measure for chit. i go the hobbytown when i get a chance and browse the styrene stands they have. theyve got plastruct and evergreen, both of which are good and are better then the other in certain areas.

yeah this is styrene, its ABS or something like that. acetal butadine styrene something something. theres two different types of glues, i use plastruct brand. there are several others to choose from. you have plastructs white bottles and orange bottles, one bonds styrene to styrene (like plastics) and the other bonds unlike plastics. that pretty much sums it up, i use plastruct because it has the brush in cap.

I have the white bottle. I think that bonds like material. particularly for styrene. Thanks Obi. | |
