| Scale engines?
Hi, anyone know where to find some nice engines? Die-cast, resin or plastic doesn't really matter. I used the 'Search' option and found the 1/18 Liberty Classics and 1/18 Muscle Machines engines, but they are very expensive especially as they are mostly in the U.S. and so postage is the same as the cost of the item! The Liberty Classics resin ones are best but only available as a set of three for the same price as a Die-cast. |

Get on Ebay and check the 1/8 scale models, they all have different kinds of overheads, usually can be bought for 60.00 or less and you can off everything other than the motor and make some money back.

1/18th scale Muscle Machines-I like the engines from these for pull trucks or radically blown rigs.

Parma puts out a Hemi kit, it's a drag engine but it can be modified to be more on road off road legal looking, they are cheap I picked up mine for I think, dont take my word on it, around 19 bucks each they come with everything you need but radiator hoses.

If your doing 1/10 I would suggest a 1/12 model kit. The can be had on Ebay for anywhere from $50-$75. Here is a link to my current build using a 1/12 scale motor. http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=28502 I also have comparison shots with the Parma Hemi. |

1/18 is too small, they may work for something like a MRC Scale rig 1/10 is great for 1.9 scale Parma's Hemi can be used in 1.9 and 2.2 well. with some lower end work on it you can sneak motor inside of it. ( see my Fun Buggy build ) 1/8 scale works great for 2.2 and again with some dremel work and styrene you can sneak a brushed or brushless motor inside of it. ( see my Big Tex build ) Monogram 1/8 Corvette (their Camaro's would work too) models are what Ive gotten lately, if you want some meaurements I can snap some shots. |
