| Limitor straps made easy...
I needed to make some for my wrangler so I thought of this. Probably has been done before but oh well. Could be used for tow straps too if you make them longer. Got this string in a trade along with a whinch... Cut and sing the end... Fold over the end and CA glue them together. Then hit them with the lighter to fuse it all together... Slide some heat shrink over the folded part... Do the same to the other side and there you go... Hope this helps -Rick |

I've made some using the same kind of masons string...but instead of looping the ends around, I used small crimp-on ring terminals and then heat shrink over the crimped area. You can also find the ring terminals that already have heat shrink on them. These work better because the heat shrink used on them usually have a glue that flows when they are heated. |

Try looking for the braided style string line. It cost a little more but it won't unravel like the twisted line will. |

If you sing the ends of these they wont unravel. But the braded would look pretty cool too |

Very cool idea for the straps. If you bind the ends before placing the shrink tube over the joint, it's very strong, like this- How to make a scale tow rope |

On mine I just took some CA glue and then melted it together so I think It will be strong enough. I pulled on one to see if it would snap and the string snapped before the joints gave out.

I was having problem with strength so I took caymin's Idea and sewed the ends instead of just glueing them. they seem to be much stronger now... |

With those shock you could just put some fuel tubing on the inside of the shock to limit it's travel. I can't do that with mine so I made these. |

Nice idea on the limiting straps. I think the idea with the wire terminals would be the way to go though.
