Same tires "thumbsup" I think once this one is done, the next ones will be framed out in square brass tube and use brass sheet for the panels, make it off road worthy and may incorporate a pop up tent(something I already have drawing started on )

That would be cool ! Be sure to post any progress "thumbsup"

Since I don't have the materials to braze yet I go with styreen.

Drawing a chassis directly on styreen:

Not one, but two times:

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/2chassis.jpg

Gleued it with bondene since I ran out of Tenax:

Raw result:

Made some leafs from a Sthill chainsaw starter spring and made some U-bolts out of TLT-1 rods:

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s.../leafsetup.jpg

I also used a spring on both sides of the, uhm, how would one call it ?

Chassis, sprayed black. Just Motip:

Discovered it's to big for the CC-01 but goes well on the Hilux ?

(?)

I just want to bring this trailer next sunday (03-14-'10) on our scale GTG and so I had to come up with a more suitable trailer to be towed behind the CC-01. So I grabbed my styreen parts and made this one:

I hope to add some paint before this weekend

Love how you made your own c channel out of styrene for the frame. What thickness did you use on the frame and the main box? I hopefully will be seeing detailed pics of the military 2 ton bantam trailer for the bigger builds.Dont forget to install tie down hooks for straps and bungy cords.

Frame is 2mm thick, box is 1.5mm.
I allready intalled some hooks for cords:

Made from 2.5mm rod, bended and gleued in a chassis drilled hole. Just have to sand and color it ...

mir4dor 03-11-2010 03:41 PM

Tonight I tried to add a little wood pattern to it:

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...g?t=1268346889

I think I like it, hope that paint will not kill it

mir4dor 03-13-2010 10:25 AM

Today I played a little with Tamiya's XF-64 and XF-1:

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...g?t=1268500802

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...g?t=1268500823

Behind the CC-01:

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...g?t=1268500864

I just have to paint the inside, add a support wheel, safety chains and fenders.

I'm wheeling this thing tomorrow on our scale gtg and will have spare tires for all that may need 'm:

Thanks for looking.

kuatto 03-13-2010 11:54 AM

The wood effect turned out great,I'm still trying to wrap my head around the easiest way to do an axle cheap so I can make multiple style trailers.

So I come up with the following ...

Cut and filed some hubs to some 7mm in diameter, cut a brakeline tube 10x1mm and found some 850 bearings and bushings:

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...g?t=1266096268

Perfect fit "thumbsup" I pressed in the bearing and two bushings. Don't forget to put in the hubs before pressing in the bearings/bushings on the other side of the brakeline.

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...g?t=1266096299

I had to come up with a leafspring mount, so I did use some TLT suspension mounts that I cut and filed to fit the 10mm brakeline

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...g?t=1266096493

On the other side I did use a Bruiser leafspring mount. I know the screws are to long but this is just for mock-up and to see how it all go's ...

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...g?t=1266096765

I'll guess I have to build a trailer arround it now  Lot's of you are using styreen. Will it stand the abuse ?

With the 2 bearing and one busishing, what order did you place them and did they go over hub first before going into the tubing?

pardonmyn00b 03-13-2010 01:21 PM

Great wood effect. That's a nice looking trailer overall.

The first axle was to narrow so I did a second one only with bushings, no bearings.

I first press in the 3 bushings on one side of the tube (breakline) It may help to use another hub to alaign those bushings when pressing in.

Then put one of the moddified hubs into the tube and the other one too but in opposite direction ofcourse , then press again 3 bushing on the oter side of the tube ... The tube is now closed with bushing and has two hubs inside ...

After this you have to shake (?) the tube a little to let the hub-thread come out, pull it out further. Instal the hex-pin, hex and finally the rim.

Hope this helps.

Thanks man ! Comming from you tells me I'm on the right track "thumbsup"

mir4dor 03-14-2010 03:12 PM

I had a blast wheeling this thing on our gtg today ! 700 grams of steel mounted on the trailer's floor makes it stand like a rock.

I don't know how to edit but here's two short (raw) films of it:

Wonder how the suspention looks in slomotion. Must learn to do some edditing

Impressed

Really impressed with the craftsmanship and ingenuity on some of these trailers. Maybe I'll have to build one myself."thumbsup"

Here is my teardrop camper trailer. I built it frome scratch, frame is brazed steel, all the rest is balsa wood or very thin hobby grade plywood.
