Default My snorkel build for New Bright JK Jeep...

OK, like a lot of you I REALLY wanted one of those prefab safari snorkels for my New Bright JK, but no one seems to stock them and they are $30.

So I spent the weekend searching the web and all the posts here I could find on DIY snorkels. Some suggested making one out of the vacuum cleaner accessories that you can get at Lowes or Home Depot and I thought I would give it a try. I knew I wanted something that looks like the "precleaner" snorkel with the clear bowl up top, and actually saw one in person on a 1:1 JK twice on the highway!

Here is my parts list:
Lowes vacuum cleaner accessories
Solder flux container and lid
Traxxas threaded rod ends x2
2 of those rubber ear buds that you get with bluetooth headphones

I started by taking a dremel to the clear plexi solder container and it's yellow lid to make it look like the clear bowl, then painted the top with bedliner black. Next took the dremel to the vacuum tube to cut off the top, and drilled two holes in it, painted with bedliner, then fed two threaded rod ends into it. Next I just pushed onto each end of the tube two different ear bud adapters, the black one is angled where the tube meets the fender, and a clear rubber one up top that fits over the tube and inside the bowl, no glue, just pushed them into place.

Lastly, bolted it onto the JK with two nuts on the inside of the body and pillar.

Thought I would post it, because I there seems to be a lot of us wanting a home made snorkel.

Hope you guys like it!

not to be a picky one but, shouldn't it look like the snorkel makes a 90 degree bend at the end instead of just dead ending into the fender flare?

Just make believe that it makes that bend under the flare.
