| How to Make Your Own Scale License Plates With John
Hey everyone, me and John got together a little while ago when he got plates for his truck and decided he would show you how to make your own. the plates are very very cheap to make, and they are also waterproof. all you need is: -blank white package labels( http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg ) -scissors or exacto knife -some dollar store self laminating cards( http://www.made-in-china.com/image/2...rd-Item-F-.jpg ) - and a pencil -and of course a printer okay so the first thing you do is go to http://acme.com/licensemaker/ and print yourself off some license plates onto you blank white package labels, and cut the license plate out. you can make the plates however small or big you want and they can say whatever you want- then go and get your self laminating cards put it down on the table then take off the hard plastic part of the card, you will not need this then the card should look like this. it should only have the actual laminating sticky stuff and the paper piece. then take the license plat and put it on one of the corners of the laminating car, with the paper side up. then take a pencil and outline the license plate you can take the plate off and this is what it should look like. i colored it in for more effect then you can take the exacto knife or the scissors and cut it out this is what you should end up with now you can take the self laminating piece you cut out and pull it apart then you can stick it on the license plate, and it should look like this, all nice and shiny and waterproof then you can take the backing off the license plate and stick her on your truck and voila, your done Nowwwww if you want to go that extra mile of scaleness you can add a steel backing to the plate. what you will need for this is: -a pair of tin snips -a tin or thin steel plate -a pencil -a grinding wheel or grinder or steel file -and most importantly safety glasses first you take the license plate and put it on your tin/steel plate and outline it it should look like this then cut it out with your tin snips this is how it should end up looking then go over to your grinding wheel and turn it on(if you dont got a grinding wheel then use a grinder or a steel file) put on your safety glasses and grind off the sharp edges then you should end up with this then just simply remove the lincense plate backing then put it on the steel plate and your all done your ready yo hit the road... legally -Wes |

I like the tin backing idea, depending on where you mount it, you could realistically bend the plate like it had taken a couple hits off of rocks/stumps etc. -val |
