Default First Styrene Project: Montezuma Welding Toolbox

Finally found styrene in my area without having to order, and decided to give it a shot. We've got 2 of these boxes on our field truck and one in the semi, so figured i'd give it a try. Pretty good learning experience on what you can an can't get away with with black paint lol. i could have done a bit more filing and sanding before paint, and my paint skills leave something to be desired. This one is not completely done yet, just have to paint the handle.

Thanks for looking, and please be kind

Pete

small update, started the second one, ordered decent materials for more projects, still haven't cut myself, and got decent glue. going to be a while to get the second done, trying for an opening top.

I used to love sheet metal work. You can't even feel that stuff go through your flesh.

all i used was styrene sheet, been cheating and having to use the clear crap from home depot due to it being all thats available in my area. at 2 bucks an 8x10 sheet its not bad, but tenax works better on evergreen and other for model products.

EDIT: here's a pic of the vehicle i'm eventually trying to model

that was our field service truck before my dad passed away. base is a 95 cummins with an auto and a couple power tweaks, nothing real special. the toolboxes on the bedsides were a recent addition and one that never saw service, but worked well around the farm. 8 horse compressor and 100 gallon fuel tank also. there is a deezee box and packer box hidden in there, which i have modeled but no pics. the lightbars were a must have for night work, and turned out to be pretty handy for putting strobes on as well. sadly, i do not have current pics of truck with the accessories on it, as when he passed away, i had to keep my uncle from using/stealing all my tools and the best way to do that was locking them in the shed and using the truck for my daily driver.
