I believe you are out of luck unless you make a servo winch.

I really don't see the problem if you have a bec than connect the winch to the bec and limit the output to 6 volts. I don't see a problem in that at all...

how would u do that? take the red wire off the winch and connect that to the red wire on the bec?

i was also thinking of just buying the wireless and hooking up an external power supply

Well black and red have to be connected to the bec and the signal cable (brown or white) has to go to the receiver.

Cut the servo J style connector off of the BEC, about 1-2" back from the plug end.
Strip the black and red wires. Solder a Deans 2R micro plug onto the BEC wires, so that the male side of the plug is negative(black), positive is the female side.
The solder the second Deans in the pack, on the input wires of the winch controller, but in reverse order, black is the female side, red on the male side.

CC BEC puts out 5A continuous. What does an RC4WD winch pull when almost at stall??

Deans 2R

There are other BEC type regulators out there that might handle more or you could go with the larger BEC that CC makes.
Dimension Engineering makes some regulators for robots. Not sure what is out there.
Try the CC BEC. Worst case your into a $6 repair fee if it frys.

Chances are the winch has one of these (micro not mini sized) motors in it, which looks like the bigger ones draw 1.6A at stall. So you should be fine.

Just connect it as you did before with the servo... there is no difference. Red and black to the bec plugs... just as you did before.
