I have made two out of shoe lace. They are a bit stretchy but they look pretty good. I am sure it's entirely dependent on the shoe lace, you should be able to find some that don't stretch much.

Shoe laces work alright, but they are a bit stretchy and if you do use them dont just glue your loops together glue+ sew them or they break apart too easily. I bought one already made just to see if it would hold up it was just glued with heatshrink around it ... didnt last 1 pull glue- sew- heat shrink it.. then it looks sweet and will hol up alot longer\ Hope this helps |

Not saying there is anything wrong with making your own. But I sell them for $8.00 a pair in several colors and they work well. I have a thread in general scale showing their Strength. Comes with hooks too.

I went the easy route and used 12 gauge wire and soldered loops on the end and used d-rings...kinda ghetto but its uber-strong |

I have a set of Norm's (Threesix) and they are tuff and look great. Im still gonna make one thats fatter like the shoestring to mimic a bigger strap but Ill always have his either wrapper around the front bumper or hangin out inside the toolbox for recovery situations. Matt |

Use those wide shoe laces that were popular in the '80s. Super glue and heat shrink will hold about any rig out there. Next to no stretch at all. Wes |

not the best pic but bick break wire with a loop in the end small like sewing thread small wire wraped around to keep it in shap then electrcal tape. i did the same thing with some string from home depot the orange kind it holds the tire on. and then i made some hooks out of a coat hanger. sorry the wire has shrink wrap on it Last edited by 86zuk; 04-01-2011 at 11:36 AM. Reason: shrink wrap |
