| RC trailer for just $10 ...!!! Yes I did it.
I wanted to make a RC trailer for my tundra but I have no knowledge of bracing metal, and I didn't want to spend a small fortune for a thing that is going to be used once every 1000 years . So I made un this trailer. The structure (or floor) is a teflon cutting board ($5 at the supermarket) and the rest was made of left over stuff I had laying arround. The wheels are hold on by some bent aluminum bases and some airplane landing gear wheel mounts I had. The wheels are old HPI and tamiya tires. As for the bariers on the front and sides are made with steal cable and some axial body mounts. The trailer hooks to the pulling truck throung a straight pole (actualy a cut arrow) that has a screw in the inside. I spent $5 in materials and the rest was left overs. It might not be the "best" looking trailer out there but for sure it is the "cheapest" one that actualy works... |

I just couldn't resist. My first trailer build was a bunch of bolted together aluminum channel and I never was happy with it. Then I decided to cut some 1/2" box tubing in half to make C channel and built a new one. Still need to make some fenders. Last edited by rckjeep; 10-14-2011 at 12:17 PM.

you are right, if you look at it from the top of the wheel up, it totally looks real or full size. The trailer looks pretty scale also, maybe with the exception of th size of the weld on the rail and the expanded metal is a little large for 1:1, but still very nice. looks functional also.

Will probably get flamed for this, but isn't the idea of making a trailer to make it look scale. If it doesn't look scale, why do people do it? Or do some parts of the world have comps where you MUST have a trailer? |

If you already have a 220 welder and just not looking to dump cash for a new 110 welder..... Make yourself an extension cord for your 220 welder and stick it through the window in your house and plug it in your cooking stove outlet or in your clothes dryer outlet. You already have 220 outlets just waiting to weld!
