Default City of the Rocks, 10-2-10

PinchFlat and I went crawling Saturday at City of the Rocks in Idaho. This place never ceases to amaze me.

Appears that Pinchy isn't all that skillful in the crack area.....

That looks like some killer terrain. Where about is that at?

Just on the Idaho side of the Utah/Idaho border. The rock is the most traction I have ever driven on.

Google Maps location?

Was that really taken with your iPhone4? You should possibly think about using Vimeo or YouTube so you can preserve the HD quality.

How were you stabilizing the phone? Here's how mine rides when in video mode...... I have some tacky material that sticks to the phone so I can angle it in any way I need too without it falling off.

Here's the link

I haven't used other accounts because of the music but the quality loss sucks. It looks pretty awesome before I upload it.

Where did you get that tripod?

Vimeo doesn't care about music like YouTube. Vimeo's only downfall is their mobile video(Plus users only) and the quality is less than great on a mobile device. iPhone is poor but on an iPad it's great.

The tripod I've had for several years, have no idea where I got it as I've had it for at least 8-10 years... I've used it for a variety of cameras during that time. I had an "L" shaped piece of plastic that I mounted to the tripods threads. Added some foam to give some cushion to phone and for added grip. It's a pretty compact unit, I stuff it into my pocket when out crawling. The flexible legs allow it to hang onto rocks and wrap around objects. Same tripod I've used in all the videos I've done with my iPhone4.

Just searched online... came up with this,

HAHAH I prefer my cracks a bit more slippery... Actually i seeing if we could get through it with body damage... I just about ripped the mirror out if the body. Zach was to chicken to scratch his toy up.

It would be a killer spot for a combined club scale event sometime...

That's what I was thinking. Fairly central for WA, OR, CA, NV, UT, MT, ID, WY, & CO groups.... Only ~11 hours one way for me

Closer then MT for you. It is probably the best place I have crawled. Scenery is beautiful. This was the second time I had been there. The first was for a 2.2 comp the Idaho guys threw in June of 09.

Here are a couple pics of the scenery from then. (yes that is water. When it rains all those rock bowls make nice car bathtubs & there are a ton of them)

I said out loud "Use Vimeo, c'mon!"

And laughed at the Bronco in the crack, in a good way.
