| PTO Winch w/Rolling Fairlead
Quick first video of a scale PTO winch with rolling fairlead I put together the last few weeks. MRC trans drives a machined delrin PTO box with TLT axle internals, between the front frame rails. Machined delrin fairlead with nylon rollers around stainless hardware. Build Thread: PTO Winch w/Rolling Fairlead Hope to get a better video of it in action. Probably in 2ft of new snow here in Michigan though Last edited by sweli; 02-02-2011 at 10:30 PM. |

Thx! Something a little different, that the JK had the space for. All cheap gears to replace if they strip. More torque then anything short of a $120 servo could offer. Slipper clutch so the kids can find the limit without breaking things. |

In front of my son's friends, I found out it had enough torque along with an 11lb rig, to tear skin, even with the treble hook filed and smoothed down. Might be time to adjust the slipper clutch on the MRC trans. | |

| Thanks guys! Think I need to swap out the little RC18 ESC I was using to control it. I had thrown a coat of electronics Urethane on the boards, but it is acting a little funny now. Times out when running line in? Runs a eight secs and stops, then you move backwards for a moment, and it will bring line back in for another 8secs?? Bad zero point adjustment? |

Ok I like it very much but I still don't get how can this winch be claimed as a PTO winch, if you are using a second gearbox and a second motor and esc for it. A PTO should use the same transmision of the main one? Isn't it so? By using all separate it would be mainly like using a servo winch, that has a separate motor, a separate esc and transmision. With this I don't want to say that your job isn't good, it is more than good it is exellent, but I don't find it correct to define it as a pto winch.

very cool, however i agree with not calling it a pto. If you wanted a true PTO you could get creative with a transfer case and a couple dig units. Not sure if there would be room for that though. i'm thinking motor->xfer case output (single side)-> digs on both outputs, one side to transmission one to pto |
