I know.. I know.. Scalers are on the back burner. I was thinking about having a TTC event. Most of us how scalers and I don't see why not to have one. I think the TTC events would help us become a "known" club. (Getting 8 comps) Thoughts? |

TTC events dont count towards becoming recognized with the USRCCA...only crawling comps. You need to go to the get together on 5/29 at Sliding Rock if you wanna have a good time with your scaler. I just wish I could go. These events seem to take a little more planning, more supplies, and more people willing to help out with organizing the event. The other hang up would most likely be coming up with a location that offers all of the types of terrain that would keep it interesting. If we found a site that does, then the problem becomes having permission to do what we need to in order to host the event. Setting up tennis balls for comp gates is a whole lot easier to get away with than creating mud holes, trails, running through a park with your truck at full speed hoping families and pets get out of the way. Privately owned land that we have permission to be on would be the best option. The first thing that comes to my mind is Exit 33. We could work with Brooks @ MCJ and whoever else to be able to work out a time and date to hold this type of event. Last edited by ittybitty; 05-08-2011 at 02:00 PM. |

If I could chime in for a minute. We are running a TTC series here going on our fourth event now. We got a bunch of flags from home depot, some gates and cut up some logs with spikes to hold them into the ground. We set our standards for locations as having water and rock, not too difficult here in Colorado. If a location can not have every type of course we just wont run it or run a modified version of it. And the real trick is we don't go to locations before hand. We set all the courses in 1 to 2 hours day of the event. If your interested you can check out our thread here: Top Truck Challenge series These really are the funniest events around. |

Thanks a lot for the advice Ty! Nice to see people taking interest in what a lot of guys are trying to make an "up and coming" State in Crawlin'. I think a TTC event would be a m-f-ing awesome time. I wouldn't be able to help much in the planning because of a lot going on right now, but i would be interested in contributing monetarily if it went towards resource, supplies or rental fees for private or public property. i am interested in a TTC type comp also but the location is what i have been looking for as well. a few of us have been working on an idea of a g6/koh style comp at the neal shoals location. i also believe the man made course would work as well. i really want to set up a 100-150 gate course that will test the driver and thier rig.

Sounds like ya'll need to visit the Exit 33 site just south of Columbia. Nate...it's really close for you...it's Exit 33 off of I-20 just above Aiken. The Mid Carolina Jeepers have a "contract" with the landowner where each member can pay $100 a year to have a key to the property. That allows them to go just about anytime...hunting being the only hold up during those times...as well as being able to take a guest with a vehicle each time. Say I have a key...I can take one more person with a vehicle and as many people riding as we want. I'll try to dig up some photos...but there's definitely water, hills, loose dirt...STEEP climbs, flats...just about everything you could want. Hell...you could run FOFF rigs there too.

Exit 33 would do good except for the fact their is no rock. Also, now, I see a place to bring an F-off if I build one.
