Default Big Comps

Thought it'd be a good idea to have a thread to keep us up to date on when the "BIG" comps are scheduled for. This way we can discuss plans to attend and see who's interested in riding together and such.

Comps:

ECC 2014 - Usually end of April...waiting on dates.

Battlegrounds 2014 (BG) - Somewhere around Memorial Day

EPARCC Northeast National Qualifier (NENQ) - June 27-29

** I'll try to keep this list updated with correct dates and events. **

At this point I plan to attend the NENQ...and would also like to be at BG 2014 depending on the date they settle on.

I'd be interested in that...ONLY if we could make it a lengthier stay. Something like Wednesday thru the weekend or the other way around...whichever. It'd just be too much to try to accomplish Fri-Sun and feel good about the cost to make it all happen.

Fuel costs alone would be in the $4-500 range for the truck and 1:1

RICrawler and I are also trying to plane something in New England. We don't have dates yet but considering this schedule I am thinking Mid may (10th or 17th). Any earlier and we have snow to deal with and can't really do it after NENQ cause we will be too late for Nat's invite to apply.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately for it to be a qualifier, it has to be more than two weeks away from another comp. With ECC, Battle Grounds, and the NENQ all within 2 months, you are going to be hard pressed to find a date that will work. We need better weather up here in the north east!!!

It would be nice to have more comps on this side of the country, maybe something after nationals to start the next year off like Colby is doing with the GSS.

Diablo...if I'm not mistaken...the 2 week rule should only apply to comps that are close enough to grossly affect the attendance of the next event. I'd have to get clarification on that, but that's how I remember it being explained. The idea was to keep let's say SC from holding a national qualifier too close to TN holding one. Have events that close together distance wise and date wise could definitely impact attendance in a HUGE way.

Being that ECC is in the SOUTH...I'd say BG should'nt be affected by it.

From what I understand the two week bit only applies if they are within a certain amount of miles. I believe the number is 500 miles. ECC is well over 500 , Ohio is probably pretty close to 500.

I'm not trying to cause any issues. We all know that there are only a small number of people in the grand scheme that travel to these events. I was just trying to say that if there are 4 comps within 3 months, they may ALL suffer in attendance numbers.

That's the reason I recommended after nats in the fall. I am by no means trying to tell you when or how to hold your comp, just a friendly observation as to the best interest of everyone

It's actually 503 miles from the location for BG to Chrokee Rock Village

I agree...but these events don't "have to have" 50 drivers. Sure it's great to have that many, but having 30 drivers is just as nice...and nicer in some ways 30 drivers still makes it qualify as a level 1 (or 3...I can't keep them straight)...if that's what you're after.

I do know what you're saying though.

Thanks for the thoughts Diablo. I had considered that thought. I certainly do not want to dilute the attendance of any event (I have been in direct contact with JSlick to discus this since their event is the closest.

On the other hand people may love the opportunity to do more local "large-ish" comps. After coming back from Nationals I had a serious itch to go out to more large events. If there were more close by that would certainly make it easier than having to get a plane ticket for each one.
