I saw RPP had the trail king on sale for $319, but they were out of stock. I got an email yesterday afternoon saying it was back and they still had it for $319, so I decided to pull the trigger last night. I have been thinking about buying a new straight axle rig to complement my TRX4 sport kit. I love the TRX4 but the portals and giant tires make the thing a little less interesting. I wanted to build something with straight axles and possibly smaller tires(4.2") just to give me something that was a little less out of control. It may take a while. I was not expecting to pull the trigger last night so I really have nothing planned out. I was thinking about buying a 1:1 XJ and modeling it after that but so far that has not happened. Maybe Ill end up modeling my 1:1 XJ after my trail king Last edited by mass-hole; 05-29-2020 at 08:29 AM. |

Nice grab! You’ll enjoy this build. It’s precise.

I grabbed a 2nd kit also a few weeks back when they went to 319 at RPP. This kit has been nice. No shimming needed for the Tranny or axles. Just used the provided spacers for between the drive shaft and pinion on the Axles to keep it recessed in the pumpkins. One has been converted to leafers for an RC4WD Blazer. I have enjoyed each kit. the Manual is very nicely done, with great easy to follow graphics, but is very very space on verbiage. You'll have no problem but a newb may find it a bit light on direction if one can't follow the pics. lol Wouldn't be the first time someone modeled their 1:1 after their Rc, though it is usually the other way around. lol | |

Shame on you for reminding me what a good deal this is I almost grabbed a 2nd TK when they first dropped the price. I'm gonna have a hard time resisting this time I've got a portly scale build but I'd love to see a stripped down lightweight build too. |
