Default Low Buck Super

I slapped a Super together real quick until I can get all my stuff together and then get with someone to build a chassis and links like i want.
I must say I kinda like it.
So here is my Low Buck Project.

Medium Bully axles
3 channel receiver hooked to a 3R
Sidewinder ESC
CC Bec
5955 rear servo
5950 front servo
3 cell Lipo
35T lathe motors
Max size wheels narrowed
Narrowed Panther meat grinders
Pimp Cane Style chassis

I just wanted something to pay around with.
It will be getting another speed control and a 6 channel radio this week.
But like it sits I think it will do well and make anyone a good Super rig.
Its kind of a new school meets old school thing I guess.

All the electronics are old stuff i had laying around and the channel for the back bone is stuff I had laying around from a build 2-3 years ago.
If i had to guess if someone already had a radio and receiver they could build this rig for under 500.00 and be competitive.
I attached the back bode to the stock upper link mount and to a screw in the side of the case.I may need to tie into another case screw we will see.
All in all it does great with no dig especially with the steering of the Bully's

I started with this and in a couple of hours had a truck.

Looks good man! What is the WB? I built a 2.2 Clod Pimp Cane a while back and it worked well....took some getting used to, but would climb steep ledges like a champ.

17.75WB

They are for sure different to drive but I started this Rc Crawler thing with one so other than being out of practice I seem to still be able to get along with it.
I am not use to the 3 channel thing.I can not wait to get the other ESC on it and the stick radio.
Once my wheels get here I will open up the tires . I will gain another
1 1/4 over all height and some much needed weight.I am to lazy to add weight to these wheels.

The sticks will for sure be on it when the other ESC shows up.

And I am sure we can cook up something in your Lab that will make the new axles no where near basic

I am actually thinking about letting Melanie have this one and build me another.

Interesting how some of the old school tech collides with the new generation of parts. At least you won't need to worry about the links interfering with or limiting the steering the axles are capable of.

I'd like to try a linkless stick like Sven had previously built...just to gain a little bit of damping of the action on the axles, might help with the faster sections between the technical obstacles. Sidehilling does seem to be the kryptonite to the torsion and stick style rigs. Or maybe it's just my driving.:?

I drove this thing today on the rocks and snow.

I think it needs a lower pinion and a taller tire.

It did do very well.It is so odd having a Super that will turn like this thing does.
This was the lightest Super I have ever run I know that much. 7lbs 1 ounce

Looking good! I have been running my super at 7.2 for awhile now and I love it!

Interested in the new wheels...weight, beef, stance, etc!

Hello,

pimped Bullys, love that concept

I've ran a super light weight Clod pimp which worked great, after adding some
wheel weights it didn't so good as before. Now i'm running a light weight 4 link
Bully (7.5) and like this thing more and more.

...can't wait to see more...

Greetings Frank

I put this thing out on some flowing rock today with some big climbs and such.
All I can say is WOW.
I am not real sure why I stopped running one of these.I am sure the reason will jump up and bite me when I am not expecting it two.

Even with the small tires way two hard of a foam and no weight other than 2.5 ounces on the rear axle this thing went everywhere and made every big stupid climb my old truck would and this one had snow on the tires.

Once the new ESC and stuff get here and I can get some time with Sticks instead of the 3R this may just be my rig for ECC.

Nice job!

You have any issues with the drag break with the Sidewinder?

I tried running dual Sidewinders w/ 10t pinions & Integy V11 35t's. While, yes, it would stop on flat surface, it just wouldn't hold on hills. A pair of HH ESC's fixed that, though.

Drag brake with the new update seems pretty good.

But to tell you the truth I never paid any attention to the drag brake on my old rig with the twin MM ESC's and the stick radio.I was the drag brake with the sticks.I actually prefer it like that that way I have as little or as much as I want.

I will get some video once I get the Stick radio on it.I am not that smooth with the lock to lock rear steer and no dig.
But boy it amazes me what all i have climbed like it is.

I put the twin ESC's on today and plan to go drive it in a little bit.

Before I put those on I was goofing off and made a set of max size Leopards for it to try.
You guys can have all of the tall sidewall skinny tires you want.I cant stand these things.Yes they hook but you have no room for error in tire placement.I think I am going to order a set of wide Bully axles when they are back in stock and run full width plowboys.I will of course try them on these axles first.

Well I went and run the truck with the new electrics and I just do not like the truck I think.
Its not just one thing that I do not like there are several.
I think I will retire this thing already
I may get a itch to try something else with it but as of now I do not think so.

First the pimp cane type chassis.Don't get me wrong I have run several and like how you can manipulate them but with the driving style I acquired from the last 2-3 years with my CFNN the 2 just do not mix.I think I could add some weight and make it better but then I have to haul that around.Stick type chassis may be a option.
I really hate the narrow tires but with the mediums there is no way I see of going to a link suspension and running a wide wheel and tire without making it wide by offsetting the wheels.
I also do not like the gearing in the axles.I know there is a 65.1 gear box coming but that's just more money and things to have to change.
I really like loading a truck up in a bind but if you do that with this thing if it does pull its self out its coming out like a bat out of hell.I can not run as fast as this thing will go.

I don't know I am so tore up over it I am not thinking straight .
I want my old rig back. But it did help pay the bills so it was not a total loss.
