| My Mad Torque
*Disclaimer* " I am a Noob " I am new to the RC world. I have been crawling for over 30 years 1:1. Now I will do it 1:8. I have been searching, reading, learning, asking questions, listening and practising (allot). I am what you all call a "Basher". I have no intentions/desires to compeet, just have fun. This Nitrorcx Mad Torque crawler was an inexspensive way to get into the world of RC Crawling. As others are posting, this is a good starter rig. I get to learn as I modify it to do all the things I want it to do. There is so much to learn and I am having a ball ! Mods so far: Tire foams cut Wheels drilled Wheels weighted (5 oz fr & 1.5 oz Rr) 4WS RC4WD Dig II (w/no rear dig) Don't ask - lol Body moddified Body mounts moved on top Motor skid plates RC4WD XR4 radio Shock oil lowered from (?) to 27.5 wt. Shocks moved outboard for clearence Tons more mods on the way ( as soon as I learn how to do them) I am having fun, ... that's all that matters ! After wheeling this weekend at the beach, I have come to a new conclusion, I am addicted ! Found out a few things, 1. I need allot more stick time, allot more ! 2. Front & Rear bumpers/skid plates were useless and got in the way. 3. I got allot to learn about shock placement and springs. 4. Cut a sidewall, gonna research and see if I can fix it. 5. 4Ws can hurt as much as help you. (gotta learn more) 6. Nothing takes the place of Practice ! Nothing ! Things I did to my M/T, 1. Took off both Fr & Rr bumpers/skids 2. Playing with shock placement 3. Took some "slop" out of the 3 links by adding some rubber o rings on the bushings. More to come ! |

Yes, I'm using the stock ESC. I wired it up just like the RC4WD instructions said. Works great, even locks up the non powered axle/motor. Mods are done for a while, I'm getting all the stick time I can right now, weather permmiting. Started on the back yard rock course, again, weather permmiting (LOL) I'm starting an FOFF rig, got a Redcat Racing Earthquake 8E, a few mods and some paddles and Look Out ! Smitty |

No, you only use the two outside wires (one red and one black) and cut/cap the other two. I'll take a pic tonight. Gohstwrighter - I seen some one on here used ink pen barrels to do that, protects the links and helps roll over rocks ? |
