So, it's finally time to start building my new supah! I fell in deep love with the class again in the Worlds fighting for the victory with Manu. How did I end up buying a super again? After few beers after the courses in Worlds, I asked may I try farmertom's super xr. It all lead to this: Here is what I'm starting with. I removed the chassis, links and shocks from Tom's build. Electric pack contains 2x HH BRXL's and 2x CC BEC's. Set that I wont be changing. Rear axle and the apocalypse motor. My idea is to buy some SISU's for the motors at some point. Front axle is a top notch work from farmertom too. I'm pleased, that I don't need to start the build from scratch. These wheels are waiting for some saweeeeet E.Y. Designs Super VooDoos! Loving the steering that XR axles give! There is some money involved to build these axles (4 sets of VP shafts) Here is front axle. It really does steer this! SCP knuckle weights are awesome! Now I have to start ordering the rest of the parts to this giant. It's first comp will be EuroCrawl in France on may 2015. Michelle promised to make the skins for it, as soon as we get the chassis to this. No more words of it yet. It's good to be back with the big boys toys! Any concerns about the axle strength with all those additional pieces? I've been contemplating extending some XR10 axles as well, but haven't come up with a plan strength-wise. |

Thanks for the reply, Curcal, but I was concerned about the axle cases made up of several pieces. Ideally, a metal tube to tie them all together would be the strongest, but the inside diameter of an XR case is very restricted and the exterior has a bevel to it. Edit: I did find Tom's build thread and see tubes will fit inside. Whodathunk. Last edited by Solitaire; 11-11-2014 at 07:30 PM. Reason: Did some searching |

Rig is a bit different from yours. I want to see how good performing rig I can do for super. At least I know what I want from it. We will see how this will deliver all the things that I want. And yes. Super is the most fun class to drive. They keep suprising me with the performance every time I'm driving.

Thats a pretty slick looking chassis. Is the cross bracing 3d printed too?

Those 3d printed braces are the coolest and most functional thing to come out for supers that I have seen! Awesome! Did you get a weight on them? Did they significantly stiffen up the chassis? How well does the printed stuff thread? Is there a way to put a brass insert in them? |

The larger double cross bracers weight 5.6 g. The tubes are hollow and the beams between the chassis side plates are made for hexagonal aluminum spacers. With 3 aluminum spacers the whole piece weight 13.3 g. I will put up some pictures in my Super thread later tonight that explain what I mean I will assemble a chassis without the printed parts to compare. The chassis got some flex in it when you grab hold of the ends and try to twist it. I think the waist of the cross bracers will need some more material. I will increase the fillet there before Hittman gets his parts. The printed nylon holds threads quite well. Nothing I would trust for bracers though or parts where you have to remove the screw a lot. You can easily put inserts in the plastic. I will try it out soon myself. Last edited by Dravpnir; 01-15-2015 at 02:06 PM.

Some goodies arrived today! I was anxious to get building! From DravTech. The new SuDu Super chassis. And some überlight 3D printed goodness. Building it straight away! These are so nicely finished parts. And really light! Assembled now with aluminium screws. It really does look a piece of art. Weight isn't too bad at all. With nearly all of the stuff onboard we are sitting some grams under 3 kilos. This is how it'll look with them small Boss Claws. Can't wait to see it with crazy ass VooDoos. Links and skins are now in production. So soon all of the stuff is here. Just taking some fancy shots. I put 4" long big bores and set the wb to 17,5". They are waaaaaay too tall! Yes, it needs the links... I have 3,5" big bores on the way, and if those are still too tall, I'm gonna go with scx10 shocks. Size comparation. Now it'll stay there and wait for the rest of the parts to show up. Last edited by Zarizi Tech; 01-22-2015 at 10:52 AM. |
