Default Strengtheners

Ever since I started selling these and people have had problems with theirs, I have tried to figure out a stronger way to make them. My intention is to be able to give these to people and not have to worry about the setup being "correct" so much.

Finally, I dont know what happened but I had a couple of ideas come to me that should really firm this mod up.

These are working great on my car but that does not really help as the old version worked great on my car also.

What I need is a person who owns these and wants to run them but has had no luck with them in the past. I would like if they were installed and run in a short period of time. My idea is that I would like to send out replacement kits to all that ever had a problem, free of charge but obviously, its pointless unless it fixes peoples problems.

So, if there is somebody out there that can put these plates to the test, please PM me.

For the rest, here is what I did. The plate is significantly bigger if you look at the footprint and its also quite a bit thicker, from 3/32" to 1/8". I also took out all the adjustment so now the plate is much stronger from not having that cut out and also people cant screw up the mesh as its set in one place.

Testing in my hands, I was able to break the old pieces pretty easy and I could not bend the new pieces. So, I have high hopes this will be a fix for all.

New on both sides, old in the middle.

Very cool Erik. Way to take care of your customers. I haven't ever run one but if the issues get sorted out I may have to scoop a pair up.

I was planning on picking one up for my super. I guess I'll wait until the testing is over. Any chance of making a metal arm? CF scares me there with all that torque.

The arms have been holding up great. I am not even a little concerned with them. If you did have a problem with them, I could easily increase the footprint and the thickness.

So, looks like nobody wants to take me up on testing them out... if there is somebody sitting on the fence wondering if they should try them, I would be willing to give a full refund if you bought them and they didnt work out.

I don't have the proper servos. Would love to get these but, I'm not sure they'll fit Savox 1231 SG.

Erik, do I have to have your servo mount to run the strengthener?

I am not sure either. Do the Savox use the same spline output as a 7980? That would probably be the biggest challenge.

Shouldnt. Any mount that is good for a 7980 should be good to go.

Looks like not. Savox are 25 spline, Hitec are 24.

I was looking at the original post, you were talking about the draglink being in a straight line. Will this steering setup be an issue?

With the old setup, I am not sure. I would guess that would all be fine but every situation is different.

With the new setup, I am hoping just about any setup will work, straight links or not.

The biggest issue was with vertical angles of the links. When your links have any sort of vertical angle, it will want to lift the arm rather than just pull or push it in a straight line. When it wants to lift it, it tweaks the plate which separates the gear mesh.

Diamond D is grabbing one of the new setups and is going to test all of this out so I should have more info very soon.
