Not a shelf queen, you need to use her..... Everytime i go out with i just remain impressed... I love the chassis and the Gear trans.... Just one thing please be' careful with the axles... Everytime you get stock on them the clips will go off...

I bought my mountaineer about twenty years. I wanted a bruiser the first time I saw it, it wasn't available anymore so as soon as the mountaineer came out I jumped on it. Just like you guys I took my time putting it together it was nothing like I have built before. I sprayed a base color on it but never did finiish the body. I would carfully run it around the yard too afraid to break something. I moved and it got boxed up and put on a shelf a few years ago I dug it out and did some crawling with it soon learned why you should glue the wheels to the rims. LOL And again back on the shelf it went then about a month ago a buddy was telling about his SCX-10 so he brought it over and I dusted off the mountaineer once again. We littered the driveway with logs and car ramps and a ladder and what else we could find and had a blast. I have a renewed interest in the truck again and after seeing all your photo's I have some mods I want to do to mine. I too think the price for the new bruiser is outragous...They gave it locking diffs, down sized the motor to a 540 and changed the tranny to stay in fwd in reverse. I paid $350 for mine back then and I thought that was high and now its over $800...

I had an original Bruiser back in the 80's.
I hardly ever dove it. I drove my Frog, much more fun.
Unfortunately that was stolen off its shelf in my bed room a few years later.
When they re-released them I had to have another.
It spends most of its time in a box, in a cupboard.
I take it out occasionally and drive it very carefully.
With everything included, radio, paint, driver and such there is nearly $1000 in it.

Here's my Original Bruiser. I'll never forget the day I got her (3 years ago). I was so excited to finally have found one after drooling over them way back in the 1980's when they were on display at my local RC shop. I couldn't believe I actually found one. I got it from the original owner who ran it about 5 times in the first month of building it. He let his brother drive it, who immediately flipped it over, scratching it and breaking the windshield. Upset, he put it in his mom's attic and never touched it again until he sold it to me...

How I received it (I removed the bumpers when I got it home)

How it is now. With Original Bruiser Builder headlock aluminum wheels (that widen the front track to match the rear), super soft tires, aluminum steering arm and shock mounts...

...and mounted up some metal bumpers.

Still haven't restored it or run it yet.

I won't be getting a Re-re, because I want to put the money towards a re-re Blazing Blazer when that gets released...
