| LowslowTJs Bruiser Re-re
So as a child of the late 80s and 90s I always wanted a Bruiser, but never had the dough for one. I was ecstatic when I heard about the Re-re and ordered one up from RPP a while back. I went through most of the build a while back when I was on a break with RCC never posted any pics. I did not build it exactly as a box art kit that is for sure. Its gonna be a 1.9 crawler. Here are some pictures of where it sits now with some of the details that I changed from a straight up build. everything was home built except I added an RC4WD 12mm Hex conversion (that went on the kit seamlessly) and some 1.9 wheels and tires I had sitting around. Hope it helps other people with ideas for their builds. Eventually I'll build rock sliders, bumpers etc. With any luck I'll hopefully have time to keep building it and update this thread occasionally. All my inspiration are from the realistic looking Hilux clones out there 1Badjeepbruiser's many Luxes, Im also steeling ideas from Chino and others. Thanks for the inspiration! Here she sits as I type this: The front suspension is stock with spring-over axle set-up. I flattened the springs and Chinoed the spring eyes. I think these things sit to high and obviously I am going with 1.9s Outback I am running Chinoed springs spring-under to lower the suspension a little. Also rear axle wrap is generally less of a problem in rigs with spring-unders...at least in the 1:1 world. We'll see how it works on this rig once it is a runner. My plan is to tweak things like the suspension once I get some scale miles on it: I also lifted the drivetrain up a little to help achive a more flat belly. Up front I used some spacers that came with the kit: Outback I made a plate that moved the rear mounts down the same amount as the front was lifted. I can now make a flat belly skid that will cover the "T-case" and most of the trans: I also lowered the body mounts so the body will sit a bit lower on the chassis. I still need to make the front lower body mount. I shortened the factory front body mount, but its gonna interfere with the motors new higher position. I am also gonna have to mod the interior to clear the higher drivetrain...or not run an interior. Thats all I've done as of now...but I have ideas for the steering that should give others some ideas. I may also run a slightly modded and bobbed box art body...I even contemplated making some metal brazed tube style bumpers for this thing...maybe. |

OK, got the body painted...and then re-painted. First I started with Tamiya TS-15 per the instructions: The Tamiya paint ran and when dry was all orange peeled. Not shiny at all. Also the can ran out about 99% of the way through the paint job. Boo. Tamiya, count me disappointed with your paint Here I wet sanded the runs: Thumbs down on the Tamiya spray paint. I'll have to find an alternative. |

Sweet build man! Subscribed! You want the spare parts I have from removing my hex conversion? Might be nice to have some back ups. PM me your address and I'll mail them to you...if you want them. Otherwise they're going in the garbage.
