Hg p407

I've been away from this forum for a few years, and the CR-01 and CC-01 have sat on a shelf. Having a grandchild getting old enough to think the CR-01 is fun gave me an excuse to use it a couple of weeks ago. However, I think I fell out of love with the CC-01 as soon as I completed it so have left that where it has sat. I'm just not sure that it is my thing. I wonder whether to sell the CC-01 and replace it with a built HG P407.

How low geared is the HG P407 relative to the CR-01? Does it use a 540 size motor and will the Tamiya Crawler motor I have in the CC-01 work in it?

i still really enjoy my cc01 it still gets driven alot the other tamiyas though the tires have rotted off the wheels lol although i did repower the track clod a few months ago hoping that would renew my interest in it lol i only ended up running it just long enuff to test it out

I'm thinking my best bet would be to get a different body for The CC-01 and renew my interest. I've always preferred the Bronco to the Jeep that I have (then get a HG P407 later).

I had been out of it for a while too. Funnily enough, just picked up a 407 on the bay. Looking forward to running through it went it arrives. Also, i have a cc01 that’s probably 11 years old now and it’s been heavily used and modified and shelved for the past 4 years. But during that time, every now and then, I’ll take it off the shelf, look at it, and tinker with something on it. One of those chassis I just keep coming back to! If you get a 407, let me know! Looks promising and can be had for quite cheap still. I think
stock is starting to dry out so grab it while you can!

I didn't even address your gearing question.
just like the re-release bruiser the HG has a 540 powered 3 speed transmission. the low gear is very low and great for crawling. The axles are open but lock with a built in threaded pin design. (thank you Tamiya) it comes with plastic clips to set the gearing on the transmission as you desire, or you can install a servo and shift in real time on the trail. as a cc-01 owner i understand why you would ask because the cc has at best trail truck gearing. Using a high turn 550 motor kind of makes up for it, but that's cc talk in a bruiser thread.
if you've had too much toyota body in your life, the RC4WD Blazer body is a very flattering fit on the HG/Bruiser too. the rear body mounts are already lined up perfectly for the swap.
