Exclamation Cheap and Effective Link Mounting Methods for the Clodbuster Axles

I know there are probably 3 000 000 000 000 ways to do this and tons of trial and error ...but I couldn't come up with a thread specifically devoted to this. I was hoping to find a few common ways of achieving a well placed link on the Clod axles especially the bottom links and especially home brew methods or cheap bought ones !So PLEASE PLEASE post some of your stuff with some photos, building info, materials you used and rough ideas on price etc.

and I am begging peoplezzz no Chit Chat posts only building info+do's and dont's

If RCC will allow it, I found a thread on RCMT that shows a bone-basic 4 link setup for a stock Clod chassis: http://myrcmt.com/review/briancpe/

I also made my own super ugly braces/link mounts out of chopping board, for a crawler they'd need to be shaved WAY down but I was in basher strength mode when I did them

Made a top center link mount out of the same stuff, but I can't find a picture now. It's all ugly and crude, but it's kept my rig together so far.

Hope this helps.

Here's a shot of my lower link mount. It uses the axle C. It has held up since day one, even with the leverage on it and a 18 lb rig. Pretty standard mount. I like it down there cuz my links slide over the obstacle instead of the axle coming head on into the object.

Even though this is not really on topic, for the shock mounts, i bent up some steel reinforcement bars for the axles instead of the standard clod servo mount (whatever it's called). This allowed me to run savage shocks lower without so much lift. The shocks are attached using a L bracket.

It also works well with mounting coil springs:

Thought i'd share a bunch of mounting methods for those who need ideas.

Did you make those yourself or buy them from somewhere. Those are sharp looking.

For myself, I've just mounted to the axle c's. I've got braces in the c's for reinforcement. Once I get it out on the rocks this spring, I'll find out how well it holds up, but it seems that this is a pretty standard method used.

why not just run a bolt through the C where the metal axle braces hook to? no fabbing needed..

If you bolt them to the axle C support, you limit the room you have to steer, if you do not run wideners.

I am trying to come up with something better, I will post if it works out.

hey Kamikaze;

Your vid looks great. Maybe I need to narrow my rims more, or angle my links more. My steering is nowhere near what you have.

My truck is a 20" now and it still will turn inside of a 2 foot radius, without dig.

Hey Kamikaze do you mind posting some photos/info on your BOTTOM LINK TO AXLE mounting system of that beast in the video?
